So, my nutritionist had her assistant weigh me before coming into her office for my appointment to see if she could send me on my way (which she did, yaaaaay!) but, when her assistant took my weight and wrote it on a sticky note to give to her...I believe she read it wrong and put it in the system WRONG (She told all of us in our group meeting she cannot see well. She literally has a tv screen for a computer screen). So tonight I go and check my stats and verify my appointment to see my weight 5 pounds lighter than it actually was...I was 259.6, not 254.6. And I am still not that weight. I am in shambles. Tomorrow is my decision appointment, and they tell us they will boot us from the program if we gain weight. I called the office to try and explain, and the best they gave me was to go to the nutrition office before my decision appointment and get weighed again. Advice? Similar experiences? I am so nervous.

Take it easy. Your shambles are obscuring the relevant details. Are you saying that, at last weigh-in, you were 259, but 254 was entered into the computer system? Andd that, if you go in to have the system corrected to 259, someone will think you gained 5 lbs and "fire" you?

Did you weigh more than 259 at the previous weigh-in? Have you been losing steadily since the beginning? Yes? Then you have a good record. Why do you think you'll be disbelieved tomorrow when you say there was an error; that you in fact weighed 259 last time rather than having gotten up to it from 254?

I just don't see why this will be the problem you expect. Go in a little earlier than your scheduled time to clear up the error.

Or is there something you're leaving out?

I have an anxiety disorder. I worry more than a person should, lol.

And I have gained like 0.2 pounds once, but have lost it plus more, and have been steadily declining. They are really strict about it, as any place should be, but the people I spoke to over the phone were like "I don't know what to do." Initially, the lady I spoke to about it told me my NUT probably saw it wrong.

I record all of my weights with dates and times myself. I hope they accept that

I never would have guessed. Isn't it fun to put ourselves through the wringer, get stomachaches and even chest pains sometimes? Anticipation is a killer.

It's noon now. Maybe you've already been to the appt. and straightened things out and gotten the approval.

The sad part about it all is that no matter how hard one tries to discuss the importance of awareness and consideration of people suffering, it is still overlooked and not considered when a stressful situation comes about, though in defense, many don't know how to deal with it or can even point out a person "panicking."

"I don't know's" are my worse nightmare in situations like these.

And it is at 3:15. I've been thinking about it today. I have the My Weight app on my iPhone that has all of my weights recorded and their times and dates. Hopefully that and the kindness of the nutrition staff allowing me to reweigh myself will help smooth things over.

I don't suffer from anxiety so I can only imagine what you experience, but I find it a good practice to assume the best until you have evidence to the contrary.

I also recommend, based on many interactions on this site, that you make sure you have a good therapist or counselor to help you navigate this whole process. Anxiety can be debilitating at the best of times, and the physical, hormonal, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of this process can be extremely stressful. It doesn't have to be, but if you do not handle change and uncertainty well then there is nothing wrong with seeking and accepting help.

I wish you all the best and have faith that everything will work out for the best.

Super! I knew it. It's a good thing I scrolled down before starting a note to you. Had I started writing when I read that, at 3:15, you were still obsessing somewhat, but at least armed with data, I'd have wasted time talking about it (but accomplished some funny material, I hope, for your entertainment). May I ask if you take meds that help?

Instead, the serious. It looks as though your level of anxiety could be far worse. As illustration, I had to back off from a friendship of many years with a woman who had colossal anxiety and OCD. Had it been she who started this topic, the first message would have covered three full screens. She was so needy so often about so many things that I felt she was sucking the oxygen from my lungs. Each time we talked or got together, I was depleted. I'd begun not answering the phone when her number showed up. The friendship ended about two years ago; I told her with gentleness that I needed to reserve energy for myself to deal with my depression issues. She phoned four times after few months apart. I talked with her for a while each time, not wanting to be or feel callous. She managed "normal" conversation and had the presence to ask about me and really listen and respond. She didn't say whether she'd finally gotten meds, which I'd urged dozens of times.. The last call was last spring. She left a nice message on my birthday to say she remembered it, had been thinking about me and that I'd been good to her. I didn't return the call and haven't heard from her since. I understand that, although she knew she was oppressive, she couldn't help herself.

I am on medication. It helps tremendously, though, like I said "I don't know's" on that level kills me, which caused breakthrough panic.

In that situation, you did the best thing possible. Those who cannot help themselves, but ask for help from everyone else, or are unintentionally needy, are draining. To themselves and everyone around them. I really hope that she has gotten medication since. I'm glad that you were able to recognize the situation as toxic and take care of yourself.

There you are, @@obxmermaid. By coincidence, I friend sent me a cartoon that you'll recognize.

Oh, rats, I don't know how to get it in here. The little "image" doodad above asks for a link, not "browse/upload." Can you help?. The cartoon is in my downloads (she sent it on view in an email). I've got Windows 7 and browser is Firefox.

The app has a camera icon that lets you upload pictures from your phone. Or you can host it on some website like photobucket and they will give you a link to post here.

Edit: I just re-read your post and see you are on your computer so the app option wouldn't work for you.

@@Soon2BHealthyAggie -- thanks for pitching in. I'm tuckered out and it occurs to me that something else might be quicker now?

I see. I expected that the cartoon could be displayed, but the system takes a link only. At least it works.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
