I am months post op and I want rice like no ones business. But is that a good idea? I havent been watching carbs at all I have been focussing on my Water and Protein. When did you guys start eating rice again or Pasta?

I am not a pasta person and I have no interested in bread only rice.

I would love you input and if you still don't eat it say so! I do not want to go down the rabbit hole.

I've had brown rice a few times and black rice once. I had brown rice maybe 6 mths post op and a few times since but never much more than 2 tbsps. Other than the glutenous white rice in sushi white rice never held much lure for me. I'm also vigilant enough about avoiding empty carbs that I have shied away from processed carbs like white rice.

My surgeon says no rice, Pasta, bread, crackers for at least 6 months post op, as they form a Gummy ball in your sleeve and he doesn't want to have to go in surgically and retrieve it.

I used to love rice. White rice, brown rice, black rice, Jasmine rice, you name it, I'd inhale it.

Rice makes me hurl now. I can eat a bite or three (small) but within 20 minutes it will come back up. It's almost as if it grows in my stomach and MUST.COME.BACK.NOW. And it does.

I don't even want rice any more. Pahsta (sic) does the same.

How long ago did you have the surgery lady?? It says you been a member since 2013 so I'm assuming 2 years and still can't stomach rice??

I mostly stayed away from white carbs until I passed goal. I'm not a big rice or Pasta eater so it was no big deal. But I do LOVE sushi and starting around 9-10 months out I have had it at least a couple times/month. Same goes with Thai food...it's really the only time I eat noodles.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
