Happy tears for my birthday

Recommended Posts

Before surgery I bought a dress for my sons wedding. Size 24. I beat myself up over my weight. I was embarrassed.

I went shopping for my birthday today. Brought me to tears. Here is my new sweater dress. I love the photos everyone has posted of styles they are wearing. I know this is a girly thing..Sorry men..... @@Babbs @Elode. Can I steal your style...I love the cute clothing you both find.

I have two pictures I keep in my office that were taken at our holiday office party. One was taken before I had WLS and the other was taken last year. I keep these pictures somewhat hidden as they are for me more than anyone else. I look at them all the time to remind myself of where I started and where I am now. I'm smiling in both of the pictures but one of them is of a person happy with her accomplishments and the other is someone who was struggling daily with her situation and co-morbidities. I can't even begin to explain how I feel when I see those two pictures though I'm sure many of you understand exactly how I feel. Sorta like our birthday girl. :D

Did you say "sorry men" at some stage in your post?

Apology unnecessary...

I'm guessing there's not a man here who doesn't appreciate pics such as the one you've (or any of the ladies in this forum) posted...

And if there is...

He's got some problems..

Keep up the good work!!!

(Posting pics I mean..)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
