Any WA state sleevers with surgeries coming up?

Recommended Posts

I received a denial of my appeal to my insurance company for sleeve surgery because I was unable to provide medical documentation of a bmi above 35 for 2 years. This is even though I do have documentation that places me above bmi 35 for two years as of April 2016. So, I will likely plan to have the surgery in May. I can't believe how petty my insurance company is.

Yup I'm up and about but really struggling to get fluids in. Been having lots of muscle spams and pain. So it's hard to tell if I'm full .

Most likely gas pains. They are not fun! Walking really, REALLY helps. My nut told me to drink 1oz every 15min. It helped me a lot. Baby steps! It's gets better from here on...

Anyone else feel like their taste buds keep changing. One day I can stomach something and the next day it tastes gross.

YES! to taste buds changing. I also still have a lot of referral pain in my shoulder, but hoping walking will help. Yesterday was great, but today I had too much gas pain. Dr. Michelson suggested Gas-X strips, so I am giving those a try. :-)

Yes the gas x strips do work and of course walking. How much are you able to eat? Sometimes I feel like I eat alot? Idk I still haven't felt the feeling of full i think. I get so scared that I just stop but I end up eating more frequently. Idk if this makes sense.

That is awesome Whitefoot- it's so close!

I'm still in the 3 month weight loss and getting all the pre-surgical requirements done. Got my CPAP today for my sleep apnea. I'm hoping to have surgery in July.

I'd love to hear how surgery went with Dr. Houseworth at St. Francis. Any updates?

Hello kadi777 . My surgeon is Dr. Houseworth. Where is your surgery taking place?

Can you tell me about your experience with Dr. Houseworth?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
