Plan, plan, plan.

Try to have at least 2 things in your arsenal that will get you at or close to 60 grms of Protein. If you drink one shake a day, you can also add a Protein Bar as snack. Always look for high Protein foods. Keep single serving packs of nuts in my car.

I would recommend keep a food dairy at least in the beginning. It will help you get organized and give you a better idea of what food work best.

Scheduling a meeting with your nutritionist to review your nutrition goals might help as well.

NewMe, I use the food-water-protein tracker online with SparkPeople. It is a great way to keep track of Water and Protein, as well as calories. I seldom have to add a food. The data base of foods is amazing. They also have a lot of goor recipes online.

What about packets of tuna or salmon in foil? They don't require refrigeration and are super portable.

Don't like to cook? Buy precooked chicken breast. Stay away from the chocolate and PLAN nutritious Snacks instead. Sit down on a Saturday or Sunday and plan out your eating for the week. Then make sure you have the foods you need. You are relearning to eat. Spur of the moment unplanned eating is not going to help.

I am on a fixed income. Weekly food planning makes that easier and cheaper. It doesn't have to be fancy. In fact keeping it simple is best. Crock pot meals. You can add Protein powder to overnight oats. I buy CVS brand Protein Powder, pretty inexpensive. I also buy plain rolled oats instead of the packets with all the additives. 1 Tbsp of nut butter with apple slices is a good snack. Pinterest had good recipes, Eggface also has good recipes.< /p>

I am NOT a cooker either. I just posted this elsewhere but here goes anyway... Low fat refried Beans. I had 4 ounce containers I would put them in and just microwave them for 40 seconds and maybe put a little bit of low fat shredded cheese (sometimes, I really couldn't taste it so often left it off). This was warm and savory instead of sweet and made me very happy in the evenings. Good Protein. lunch would be low fat Greek yogurt. Also high in Protein.< /p>

I can't do cottage cheese and eggs didn't sit really well either so these were my mainstays.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
