I'm looking for suggestions on a mildly priced (not super cheap or super expensive) activity tracker.

Personal reviews are welcome tell what it trackers and how accurate you think it is.

Find one that fits your lifestyle. You have options of clip ons or wearable devices. Some you need to pair with your smartphone and others give you readings on the device. I tried Misfit fit, Viviosmart, Polar Loop and JawboneUp24. I like the Polar Loop and the JawboneUp24. I found the Misfit too complicated, and the Vivosmart inaccurate. I ultimately went with Polar Loop because it fit my needs. I get a read out on the wearable, and it is waterproof so I can record wear it during Water aerobics. Most of them will remind you to move every hour and monitor your sleep. Most run between $75 to $150 after that you are looking at devices best suited for triathletes.

I think the best value out there is the Fitbit Charge HR, quote at $120 from City Sports, or if you don't need heart rate, just the Fitbit Charge at $100. Both of them have steps, floors, calories, and distance, as well as a stopwatch and time of day synced to your phone, all viewable both on the tracker and in the app.

The Flex doesn't display these things, but rather just tells you with dots when you are at 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, or have reached your goal. It's getting cheaper, especially on eBay, as the others become more popular, and I've seen them around $25 personally. Good luck with your decision. Sorry I can't advise on TomTom and other competing products.

I LOVE my FitBit HR Charge. One stop shop. Tracks my steps, distance, calories burned, stairs climbed. It also captures my activity. So when my heart rate is increased for an extended period of time it shows me active minutes . Captures my heart rate. Tells me the time. And has a silent alarm that vibrates my wrist in the mornings to wake up. I also can track all my food as well as my Water intake in one place. I can record my weight. I love it. The food record allows me to enter basic info to details like Protein grams, carbs, calroies etc. Once it's recorded it's always there. Love it! Oh and it also tells me who is calling my phone and vibrates on my wrist.

I love my Fitbit Flex, which I've had for nearly two years. I do find it accurate. It syncs with my phone or my laptop, and also with my Sparkpeople account - I live the features on Sparkpeople better than the fitbit food tracker, just a personal preference.

I did have an issue where my first one just died on me, and they sent me a replacement very quickly, no questions asked.

I wear mine on my wrist, though for formal occasions I stick it in my bra and still get accurate readings. I can also put it in a pocket. Someday I may get one with more bells and whistles, but this one does everything I ask it to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
