WendyA 7 Posted November 4, 2015 I saw my surgeon last month and he knows I had a Nissen Fundoplication done 3 yrs ago for Hiatal Hernia and GERD which the GERD led to Barrett's esophagus (precancerous of the esophagus) anyway, he stated his concern his that the blood vessels of the stomach will be damaged or died off and he cannot do the bypass which is the only procedure he would do on me, and also concerned for the Barrett's I have, he wants to make the best decision for my future health, also stated he was going to present this to a board of surgeons for their advice whether to proceed or not, but stated it should be fine, and if so I will be his only surgery that day so he can take his time in case it takes longer....he is still having me go through testing, passed blood test with flying colors, and getting upper GI and sleep study this month...so I won't know if I have the bypass until I wake from anesthesia, he already had one patient that he could not do her bypass due to dead blood vessels in the stomach....has anyone else ever come across this before? I am going through Dr. Genaw at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit.
