I can think I can tolerate anything now, but if I actually do it I often regret it. Just a couple of days ago, I went to Starbucks and got a Frappachino Grande. I use to get a Vente! By the time I was finished with the grande, I was miserable. I really wished I hadn't gotten it. It was a waste of calories, no Protein, and I felt ill. Today, I blended my own Decaf coffee with chocolate Protein powder, ice and a splash of low fat milk. Perfect. There are alternatives.

I still have slimys sometimes. Not often because I know when something hasn't gone down right and I am finished eating - right now! I have new tiny bowls and saucers. I use a beautiful antique baby spoon and even a sippy cup because I use to drink everything with a straw. Whatever works, right.

When people say I am able to eat everything but in small portions, what does that mean? A salad plate full? A Soup bowl full? A coffee saucer full? Spending a life looking weight and eating like a small bird makes me wonder if I made a mistake. Too late now. Please advise.

I was referring to the types of food, rather than the quantity. But I'm reading here that as time goes on, we will be able to eat more.. But not too much... Which is the whole point of the surgery, right? ....feeling full with less food.. Guess we gotta just flat out not love food as much ????

Don't take this wrong, just trying to share my own experience maintaining weight loss...

If you DON'T spend a life "eating like a bird" you will regret the surgery because you will quite likely regain.

When i go out to eat, I generally order from the appetizer menu and often dont eat it at one sitting. A restaurant meal is either shared with a friend or if just me, probably often males 3 meals.

Not sure how to advise. Helping you to eat smaller portions is kind of the whole point of surgery. What were your expectations?

As for the portions I can eat it depends on the density food. Solid Protein like chicken or beef I can only eat about 1/2 cup. But I can eat a whole cup of veggies or Greek yogurt or soup. Slider foods like chips, Cookies, popcorn, Peanut Butter, ice cream, certain fruits and even Protein shakes I could eat almost limitless amounts of. But "choosing" to eat like a small bird is what has made me successful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
