I am a college student and how everything has panned out I will be have surgery the first or second week of classes. I know I will be tired and at class you are just sitting the whole time. And I will be in the same building so not a lot of moving even though I know I need to walk!! Anyone go back to classes like 3-4 days after surgery. Trying to not miss all week of classes if possible!!

Thank you ????

I had surgery on a Wednesday and was planning to go back to work on Monday (I have a desk job) but I was so tired and couldn't make it in. I had zero energy and felt pretty "blah" overall. I did half days at work the first week post op. I'll be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and I've still had a few days where I had to leave work early or come in late.

This is just my experience. You may bounce back much faster than I did. Best wishes and good luck to you!

I am a current student and almost 4 months post op. My surgery went very well and have had no complaints whatsoever. For me, I had surgery on Tuesday and could have been back in class on Monday. Lucky for me, I had surgery in July so class didn't start till Aug. Everyone is different, but I hope that you don't have to miss too much class cause I know how impossible it is to catch up once you've missed too many days. Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
