Is anyone experiencing more frequent urinary tract infections following their surgery. I was wondering if it is because I am not drinking enough fluids. My doctor calls it Urethritis.

I had a UTI about 3 months in -- and I'm sure it was because I had slacked off on Water prior to that. My bad.

But that got my attention, and I'm better now. And I'm REALLY better lately, since I'm eating more food (am on maintenance).

Not enough Water causes ALL kinds of problems -- to start with, dehydration is the most common cause of fatigue. It also leads to head hunger, UTIs, kidney problems, liver malfunctions, Constipation (and colon blockage), dry unresilient skin, brittle hair, blurry vision, etc.

Thanks for the info. I had it last January but I haven't been drinking Water. More coffee with Creamers. I gave that up this week.

Are you drinking Decaf or regular coffee? My plan requires me to eliminate caffeine all together because it is a diuretic and is detrimental to hydration status.

I have been drinking regular coffee with tons of sugar free fat free cream. I have now switched to black coffee. I can buy Decaf. That's not a problem. Thanks for the tip

I had one in September about 5 weeks after my sleeve and I have another one now. My dr. says she doesn't think it is related, but I maybe have had only 5 or 6 in my life before these two. I almost always getl of my Water in, so I don't know why I keep getting them now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
