hf2havefun 0 Posted July 18, 2007 :whoo::faint::cry:DSomebody pinch me! I think I'm dreaming. :notagree I was at work today and the phone rings. It's Lori from Dr. Ehrlich's office (my surgeon)! I HAVE A DATE!!!!!!!!!! Well, two dates actually. I just got my CPAP machine today and have to be on that for at least two weeks. My first surgery date is August 14th to have my gallbladder out. Apparently, I have one large gallstone. And my Lap-band surgery is August 21st. WHOOHOOOO!!!!!!:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::first: I don't think it's exactly hit me yet! :bounce::dance: A friend of mine at work is having the bypass surgery and she started her process at the beginning of April and is still waiting on a date for hers. I started May 21st. She gonna be so mad that I got my date first. Oh well, she'll get over it.:biggrin1: I guess now I need to take the dreaded before pictures and take my measurements. Thanks for listening! Sorry for all the smilies. I can't help it today!

KtKt 0 Posted July 18, 2007 CONGRATS 2 u!!!! Don't stress about the gall bladder surgery - it's not bad at all... I had mine on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday! Too bad they can't do both surgeries at the same time... : ) Keep the posts coming! We'll be :banditwatching for updates!
miminms 0 Posted July 18, 2007 hf2havefun..I know what you mean. When I got my date you could not have wipped the smile off my face!! I just knew it was a life altering moment. I was banded 6-19-07. I too had a gallstone. My Dr. removed my gallbladder at the same time he did my lapband surgery. I haven't had any complications and have done great. So far I've lost about 30 lbs. I feel great! I'm still smiling!!! Congratulations....it won't be long now!!! Good luck and God bless!
hf2havefun 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks Tammy and Katie! Trust me! I asked about having it done at the same time. They said that the gallbladder can have bacteria in it and they don't want the bacteria going toward the band since it's a foreign matter in your body. Yeah, don't really want any further complications so I'll just have to deal with it a week apart. I'm going to take about 3 weeks total off starting the week of the gallbladder surgery. I'm putting in for my short term disability insurance and medical leave. No sense rushing right back to work. It's me time now! I guess one good thing about having my gallbladder surgery a week before the lap-band, he pre-op diet should be a piece of cake. OK, well maybe cake isn't the word we should be using here. I meant that I probably won't have much of an appetite, right?!
KtKt 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Amazing attitude! I LOVE IT!!! k
hf2havefun 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks miminms! That's exactly how I was today. busting at the seams and ready to tell somebody! One of my co-workers on the way out of work today asked me was I was smiling like that for. I guess it was obvious. A lot of them at work don't know yet and I didn't feel like telling them just to be criticized anymore. Just cause they are miserable doesn't mean I have to be anymore! miminms 0 Posted July 18, 2007 You go girl!! Don't let anyone pull you down!! As for the gallbladder surgery at a different time....everyones Doc is different and yours is the one you need to trust. He knows what's best for you. Neither surgery is bad and I love that you are thinking about yourself. It's about time we all "milk" some time for ourselves! LOL Keep us all posted. Keep the smiles coming and don't listen to any negative crap! You are going to do great!!!

hf2havefun 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Well, I tried out my new CPAP machine last night. I have a sneaky suspicion that this thing is going to take some getting used to. Does anyone know about how long it takes to get used to the CPAP? I ripped it off a couple of times feeling like I couldn't breath until I started to get used to it being on me, but I'm not comfortable yet. I woke up this morning and again didn't have the mask on, but I don't remember taking it off. Is this normal?
Breezyrn70 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Hi. I am a nurse and have had lots of patients with bipap and cpap, and YES! takes lots of getting used to! Most of the patients try to refuse it, even though they really need it. It makes a huge difference with ABG's (labs) if worn as ordered. Good luck-you can do it! :clap2:
