Weight gain at barely 2 weeks post op

Since being sleeved on the 21st of October, I've been weighing myself daily. In the last 3 days I haven't lost and in fact I think I went up a pound or two. Is this normal? I'm feeling a little discouraged. I can now have mushy foods and creamy Soups and I have been. Did I move too fast to the next stage of food?

Stop weighing yourself daily if it makes you nuts. Hate to break it to you but weight loss is not a linear process. You will gain and stall as well as lose. However if you stick to the plan you will lose. People have different schedules for weighing themselves. I only weight myself once a month or when I have a doctor's appointment. Other weigh weekly and yes, some weigh daily. If you are the sort to get upset at any fluctuation, then you need to put the scale away. Focus on eating properly, drinking your fluids and exercising. Take your measurements. I do neck, boobs, waist and hips. Update that monthly. When the scale does not move, you will often be able to get a better idea of how your body is changing. Back to your original question, yes it is perfectly normal to gain before you lose. Especially in the first few weeks. If you are following your nutritionist eating plan, you did not move too fast.

One way to take the worrying out of the equation is to track your calorie intake.

You'll know ahead of time what the scale is going to read.

Calorie counting may eventually work - but it's really not accurate immediately post surgery. (Especially when you weigh yourself often) I have only been taking in about 400 cals a day and have been "stalled" for 4 days. Your body's trying to recover and there are all kinds of crazy hormone action on the go.

I used MFP from day one. Not because I was calorie counting. I make my own Protein shakes and I wanted to make sure I was hitting my Protein goals and I also like to monitor my macros. I also think it's a good habit to get into for later when you need to count calories. Having that food diary helped me to see just how much that ¼ cup here or small bite there added up to and kept me accountable. It wasn't about keeping my calorie count low, it was about making the connection with the food and how it effected my body. I can tell by looking at my diary if I will show a loss at the doctor.

If you only weigh yourself monthly, then you'll definitely see the long term results. From what I've heard, when you switch from liquids to solid foods, you will definitely see a slight gain, but I wouldn't worry about it. You're eating, what 600-800 calories a day, right? You HAVE to lose if you're only eating that little.

Day 8 lost a lot ghem solids stared yesterday i mean full liquid like creamy Soups and sf ludding and i gained a lb may e 2 by tomorrow

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
