The hardest months (mentally) so far

Recommended Posts

So I just passed my six month mark. I've realized that the 1st month and this sixth month have been the hardest on me mentally.

The 1st month was a mental challenge since in never felt like I was losing "enough" and never felt like I was meeting nutritional goals. Now this sixth month is a whole other mind warp. I feel like I'm waiting for a shoe to drop. So much talk about weight loss slowing, hunger returning, having to have forged good habits to carry you through...

It all makes me doubt myself (again). Am I doing this right? Is my focus where it needs to be? Will the next six month be 'textbook' honeymoon ending, or more of the same?? I'm seeing I don't fare well with the unknown.

I need a mantra I can tell myself. Help me fill my head with self-promoting thoughts vs. Self-doubting/defeating one's.

Mantra? Did you say mantra? Well, dear, darling @@dhrguru, I just happen to be running a special on mantras today. Let's see, what's in my basket that has your name on it? Ah, here:

I can see the top of his head, tra-la!

That should help you remember how far you've come and that all the credit is yours. Do you really not understand the power that you've tapped? It's yours and, as you suspect, only you can send yourself off on a Detour. Have faith. You know where to focus because you've been focused all along. How many of us do you suppose are timid about the unknown? Five? Ninety-nine million thousand? The only way to fare well with the unknown is to step into it.* Poof, no more unknown. You've been doing it like a champion from the start. Have faith. You are super. If you question my authority on this, I'll give him a funny haircut guaranteed to make you guffaw when you want to keep you mind on other things.

Laurie

P.S. I mean every word, especially the part about the haircut. "Have faith," too. You have proved yourself eminently faithworthy.

* My apology for that one especially. It's so Ben Franklinesque, instant cliché and true and, therefore, infuriating.

First, congrats on losing 80lbs so far! That's amazing and so inspirational to me (I'm 3 weeks out today). From what I've been reading in the forums, doubting yourself is just part of the process. Have faith in yourself, keep doing what you've been doing and know that you have many complete strangers from these forums sending you positive vibes daily! Remember to Reward yourself on the small victories . For a mantra how about "I am happy and healthy and closer to my goal every day" Peace and Love!

One thing I noticed about your ticker is that you are half way to your goal! You have made incredible progress! That alone is worthy of praise! I could only hope to lose half my weight in 6 months! Unless your blood work comes back weird, keep on keeping on! I know its hard but remember worrying will not help you one bit. In fact, it is counterproductive to meeting your goal! My gut says you need to know that you are worthy....

You sound like you have moved out of the honeymoon phase. It's actually a great place to be. Its when you realize the

hard work kicks in. Have faith and trust yourself. 80 pounds down. From your stats you have 80 the same amount to hit goal. You have come this far... half way there.

You have done very well in the first 6 months. Don't let everything you read or hear scare you. You are in control.

I had some Dufas tell me when my weight loss did start slowing down that I was done losing. Well, that really pissed me off because I knew what crap that guy was full of.

Yes, it slows down but if you stay true to the plan which you will, it will continue to come off.

Also the hunger thing that comes back, it is nothing like what you knew hunger to be before. It can be addressed with very little. You know what you need to eat and you will do fine.

No more self doubt, haven't you already proven that you can in fact do this? It certainly looks that way from this side.

It is time to simply move forward and take no prisoners!

Good luck to you, I bet at the end of 12 months that self doubt will be gone.

I was looking here tonight needing some encouragement. I am 5 months out and man this last week has really been a mental struggle for some reason. I haven't given in to the wrong things necessarily but I do feel like I have had a harder time pushing my plate away when I am full or even not really feeling full and really feeling the pull/craving for some of my old favorites - ESPECIALLY a diet soda. At home it is easier, because I portion out what I should eat and set my timer and stop when I need to, but I have eaten out lunch several times this week and I really struggle with that more. Anyway, for some reason I have had this overwhelming fear about how I'm going to keep the weight off. That fear that says "what makes this time different?" I don't know the answer other than "take it one day at a time", but it is always interesting to see that others are dealing with some of the same things. Tomorrow is a new day.....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
