I was told to stay away from Tomato products for the first 6 weeks because of the acidic content -- but after that, I don't know why sugar free ketchup would be bad. I would stay away from raw onions until you are cleared for regular food... quiche does sound good, though......

OK, I'm having trouble with the concept of ketchup with quiche. And mind you, I'm pre-pre-op, so I could do this right now if I'd a mind to. Sorry!

Ketchup with scrambled eggs, now I used to do that, then I switched it up to salsa years ago. or Tapatio sauce. And Tapatio sauce always on frittatta, which is the lazy cook's clean-out-the veggie drawer standby.

But on quiche? OK, quiche is kinda scrambled-eggy, but I sm still bamboozled. I wonder what other dearly-held food combinations are out there?

I'm sorta thinking she meant ketchup and quiche, not ketchup ON quiche, but I may be wrong...

Quiche was one of my very first "real" foods and I regularly make crustless quiche. My kids love it, I love it and it's quick, easy and full of proteen (sic). As long as you saute the onions, they shouldn't be a problem. Raw, they won't be a problem once you are fully cleared but they are a bit harder to digest. When I first started eating quiche, I did dice up the veggies and meats finer than normal and I skipped the broccoli all together.

Make and freeze mini quiches! Two or three is a perfect sized sleeve meal.

I hardly ever eat ketchup since most things I'd put it on I can't eat (i.e., French fries), but I've had the regular kind and never had problems with it. But then, I didn't eat very much of it, either. I don't think I had it until I was 3 or 4 months out.

I've made crustless quiche a couple of times. I can't imagine quiche - crustless or not - with ketchup though!!

Do you have a nutritionist? It sounds like you need to have a sit down with her.

Goodbye French fries (I used to hit them with hot sauce)

Goodbye shepards pie.

I've never been much of a ketchup fan. Mustard, I really like and am glad it gets the stay around.

I used to eat ketchup on scrambled eggs when I was a kid.

Even though you don't have an appointment with your NUT for a while, is he or she reachable by email or phone. I can call or email mine at any time.

Great point. Ours maintain a private Facebook page.

They are always answering the "can I have this" at this point questions.

Sometimes they'll post a new product or recipe they like.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
