Yes, and we still have some newbies finding us...but I figured the month was over and there weren't very many other voters going to it. Did you vote?

Superstu58 - do you live there in Modesto? I used to live in Oakdale and miss it all very much! How are you doing with your band? How much weight have you lost?

I was banded on Sept 19 and everything is going well. I am now walking 2 miles every other day and have lost 15 lbs since Sept 10th (slim fast) I still drink one slimfast about every other day for the Protein. This is my first day on the site. Good luck everyone!

Hi guys, I was banded Sept 7th. I feel like a failure. I'm hungry all the time, and have NO energy. Trying to get in all my Protein, but falling short. I'm getting about 40-50 grams per day and the minimum is 60. I have a Dr's apt Friday and im thinking about cancelling it because I haven't lost much. Just about 3 lbs since my 2wk visit. 12lbs since surgery. I'm so intimidated by my Dr. He rescheduled my surgery because I had gained 4lbs (didn't require pre-op diet). He wasen't happy with my weight on the day of surgery and played mind games with me and questioned my eating then. Just never a positive person, I always walk away from him feeling ashamed and like a failure. I'm so afraid he's going to be rude to me since my loss hasen't been spectacular. I used to get a burst of energy after a walk, but now i feel like im dragging my legs through mud and after I crash. I have to wait until 6wks for a fill. Im not eating half what I used to, since surgery. But I feel fatter than ever. I'm so depresed. Are all of you haveing fabulous success or is anyone feeling like a failure like me?

From what I read, I don't think it is uncommon to not lose a great deal during the stage before your first fill. I believe I've even read that some people gain during this time. Don't cancel your appointment and don't let the doctor intimidate you. This is why you went to see him in the first place.

If you haven't been logging your food, try fitday.com or sparkpeople.com. I'm not sure if the programs have print capability, but I've pulled mine up online in the doctor's office to show them. Of course, that assumes your doctor uses computers in the examining rooms.

Don't give up. It will get better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
