Advice on how to get all your water in

Recommended Posts

i would love to hear how everyone manages to get all their Water in. i struggle daily to get 32oz in. i do it but i find myself usually at the end of the night trying to drink the last 8oz before bed. its not that i dont like liquids i just either forget about drinking or it ends up being too close to my meal times so i cant drink. Any tips would be really helpful. Ive read posts on here that some people drink 64oz or more! i cant even imangine drinking that much although i would love too!

I'm one who does 64oz+ each day...

The trick is, sip...

I have a water bottle at my desk at work...

I have one in my gym bag...

In my car...

On the table next to my couch...

Beside my bed...

Everywhere I go, I have access to a Water bottle...

And a couple of spares in the fridge..

Just give them a freshen up each day you'll be sweet...

I'm back to drinking like a normal person, so I have no problem drinking. Early on, I sipped all the time, and I also kept Water with me at all times. I sipped all the time. In the car, at work, on walks...all the time. It's a challenge, but it's necessary. I got a couple of those Nalgene bottles with measurements on it, so it was easy to measure out how much Water I was getting in.. Now I just judge by the ounces on my Ozarka water bottles.

Buy multiple Water bottles. Carry them everywhere.

In the early days I would take a bottle to bed with me. When I woke up my first goal was to drink at least 4 - 8 ounces before Breakfast. Another 8 -12 after Breakfast. I had a big gap between lunch which was usually between 12 -1 pm and dinner which is 6 -7 pm for me. That was prime drink time. I aimed for at least 20 - 24 ounces. After dinner it was as much as I could handle.

Now that I can drink normally I use 20 - 24 ounce Water bottles. My goal is one in the morning, one in the afternoon and the last one after dinner.

If you need reminders try setting the alarm on your smartphone.

Go buy yourself a large Yeti stainless tumbler & lid.

Fill it up with ice & Water. (It holds 30 oz and there will still be ice in the cup at room temperature after 30 hours. Amazing cups)

Take it everywhere you go.....sip on on all day long. Refill as necessary.

3 days out from surgery and I was getting well over 100oz a day.

I normally would frown on spending money on such stuff......but the performance of these cups is simply unbelievable. Drank ice Water on the way to work. Left it in my cupholder of car. Worked a short day (6hrs). 90 degrees outside. I return to car and there is still ice water in the cup for the trip home.

I had a local guy re-finish a pistol for me in two Cerakote colors. He'd told me ahead of time that he was working on an order of Yeti cups for a local store, too.

I had him go ahead and do mine in the same colors as the pistol and I bought one on the way there for him to do for my wife.

He texted this pic to me to let me know they were ready:

On the way back home I made a pitstop for the best lemonade on Earth for her to break in her new cup with.

They've got to be hand washed, but it's no biggie. These things are insane. Fill 'em up with ice and water....put 'em on your nightstand (no condensation....no water marks) and you'll still have ice water the next morning waiting on you.

Everyone in my family has gone nuts over these things. They are available in 3 sizes now, I believe. I recommend the largest size (30oz).

I know it's weird but I could never do the really large containers. It was just too overwhelming. Refill a 24 ounce bottle 3 times a day? No problem. I actually get joy out of refilling it. It's like a small pat on the back. I mentally think "1 down" or "only 1 more to go."

I use a 24oz bottle and start the day with a 24oz Protein latte. I refill it with Water mid morning.. In the afternoon and evening. I used to drink a lot of Water before vsg and I am lucky that I still can.

Carry a bottle where ever you are and drink all day. Good luck!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I guess my main problem is not having my Water with me at all times. i like the ideas of having Water bottles in different areas like my car and different rooms in my house. Im excited to try this out tomorrow! Wow Dub over 100oz not even a week out of surgery! Thats impressive!!

Thirst has never been a concern whatsoever.

It's funny....once you get used to sipping.....you'll be involuntary reaching for the cup/bottle. Good stuff.

Flavors I like, which change from day to day, and bottles all over the place. I find if I don't have one on the desk, next to me on the couch, in the bedroom at night -- that I forget. So, I'm all about the Torani sugar free flavors (there are like 30 of them) and Mio drops, and Thermos Intak bottles. :-)

I got a big drink bottle and subtly marked every 100ml on it. It's hard to remember to sip every 5 minutes, so if I haven't drink it all in an hour I'll try to make it up in the next hour, or I'll chug it down on the hour. Makes it easier when Im' at work too.

Fluids go through your stomach easily. My dietician says that you can drink 130-150ml at a time (the size of your stomach now) as long as you leave enough time for your stomach to digest it. I tend to leave 10 minutes. So if you think about it that way you can really get quite a lot of Water down if you concentrate on it for an hour.

I used to think I could drink plain Water easily, but once I added a little cordial I was able to drink so much more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
