Hey all I am 2 weeks post op. feeling pretty good. I was dancing yesterday to music in my kitchen while making halloween goodies for the neighbors (and for the first time in a LONG time I wasn't concerned about eating any of them. felt good!~)

but anyways. two months before my surgery I joined jazzercise and loved it. I was going 4 days a week and loved it. The information I was given about exercising was kind of vague. I remember hearing 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. I certainly wont be doing the floor work which includes crunches but I would love to start moving again. I don't see my surgeon to check on the incisions until Nov 10th. Long story short how soon did you guys go back to exercising? I dont want to hurt myself but do feel like I want to move more. I go back to work this coming monday so who knows that alone might wear me out. I am an office manager but still sitting that long might wear me out. thanks for any help with this. love the support on here.

I am going back to work tomorrow after being sleeved on 10/7 and my gym is at my job, so I guess I will continue doing what I was doing pre-op which was walking at least 30 minutes at a fast pace daily and maybe going to a cardio class here or there and using the weight machines some days to try and work on my arms, legs and core.

My doctor just said stick to walking for at least the first 2 weeks and then ease into workout listening to your body. He said that usually for the first couple of weeks, you have decreased energy, so as your energy rises, you can increase activity.

Do you have a 6 week check up with your surgeon? Usually they will clear you for the more strenuous stuff after 6 weeks.

Keep dancing! As long as you're moving more, honestly that's all you need to do :)

This is something that varies from doctor to doctor. I was walking from day 1. Using light 3 -5 lbs hands weight by week 2 and by week 3 once my incision scabbed I was back at aquafit Water aerobics with no restrictions. If you were dancing and felt great, you may be ready to resume jazzercise even if you have to make some adaptations. Just give your doctor a call and confirm. If you do resume make sure you listen to your body and stop if you feel pain or get overly tired.

@Babbs@jess9395@BLERDgirl@thisfathasgot2go Hey thanks for the replies!! I dont see my surgeon until Nov 10th. I think I will see how going back to work feels. Might try walking on the treadmill at my gym then do some of the dancing and like you said modify it to not strain myself or hurt my self. Love all these ideas!! yes safety first. Thanks guys!!!!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
