This last year everything crashed, I've been binge eating and put on 20lbs Panic attacks happened and now I feel as if I lost some control of things. How do get control? Anyone recommend a medication for panic attacks that we had bypass can handle? I have to lose this extra weight

Ashlegal 525 Posted November 1, 2015 The issue with medication to treat panic attacks is that they in their nature are addictive. While they do help they can create bigger problems. Do you exercise? Have a support group in your area for Overeaters? Ever thought about Yoga? I think you need to tackle this from a physical as well as mental problem. Addressing one area and not the other may not be as effective. You may also want to find out about getting into therapy to address your anxiety. This is not just about the weight you have put back on. Nope. It is about addressing why you turn to food to cope with the anxiety you feel.
talking mountain 26 Posted November 4, 2015 Counting backwards from 1000, helps me manage anxiety attacks. Sounds dumb but it works and is really simple. Even better if I take a deep breathe in and count on each exhalation.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted November 4, 2015 I agree with @@Ashlegal that just treating the symptom of anxiety will not help you in the long room. I would recommend you find a good counselor or therapist who will help you address your anxiety in a healthy way.

sarahbethemails 68 Posted November 4, 2015 My friend gets panic attacks really bad what helps her is walking or she goes to the basement and punches her punching bag!! Work out and relieving stress at the same time! Win win!
WildGrits 101 Posted November 4, 2015 Those panic attacks are nasty stuff. I would say for me I force myself as soon as I get home from work, to grab my dog and hit the park. I walk at the fastest walking pace I can for about three miles. Dog loves it. By the time I am done, feeling really good. Do that exaggerated breathing in through the nose out through the mouth. That does wonders for me. I do look like a nut but it does help. Good luck. I would say it has been my experience that smoking herb helps for a day or two but then makes the attacks worse. So I wouldn't advise that long term.
