Day 2 liquid diet and MY NEW BEST FRIEND!

Recommended Posts

I woke up with a splitting head and an awful taste in my mouth. I have had my Protein Drink, took my meds (including Tylenol for the headache) had a Popsicle and of course Water. Nothing was helping the headache and I just felt sickly. I decided to try some Cambells Creamy cheesy potato and bacon. Omg!!! It was heaven!!! My headache is gone and I feel like I ate a meal!! I hope this will help others get thru this!!! Good luck to all, we can do this!! To me it's a small price to pay for our healthy lives we have to look forward to!!!

Take a look at the label on that Soup.

https://www.campbells.com/campbell-soup/on-the-go/cheesy-potato-with-bacon-flavor-soup/

I'd submit that Soup is not your best friend at all. Almost no Protein and a lot of non-Fiber carbs.

It's not an easy battle but it begins by adhering to our plans.

So, bacon, cheese, potatoes liquefied.

Nope, doesn't count as liquid diet.

Go back and read the documents your surgeon gave you on what you're supposed to be having and stick to that.

My NUT approved ALL light/low fat Soups (just pureed) during the full liquid phase. In fact, she recommended an organic chicken noodle Soup and it was the only thing that didn't make my stomach turn at that point. It's fine to offer advice here and to share what worked for us or what our fears are, but it's not fair to judge or preach or shame each other. As we see time and again in these forums, there is not a consistent or single post-op schedule. A lot of surgeons and NUTs do things a little differently.

Thank you nnv!! I appreciate what you said, and you are correct, that Soup is on my list of things I can drink on my liquid diet. I definetly would not drink ANYTHING that is not on the approved list. And I am surprised at the negativity on this site, we are all imperfect, that is why we are doing this surgery, otherwise we could do it on our own. I don't need this negativity on my journey. I will not be coming back to this site!!

@@sammie.1965 I feel badly that you want to leave the site. These folks are really good people, with concerns. If that is on your approved list, great! These folks just care, and sometimes it may come across as something else. I've been around the site a long time, and everyone is so wonderful. It's a truly great resource and a great support group. Give the site another chance, and I hope you find it more helpful than hurtful. All the best to you.

@wannaBthinsoon. I am sure you are correct about the majority of the people on here, but I have read some very negative things all over this site. I will get my support from the people I know and love but thank you for your concern. Good luck to all.

There are no chunks what's so ever, it is creamy like gravy with no chunks!

Okay, then, color me shocked that is allowed on your pre-op diet. You did post in pre-op. I can understand it post-op as you can't eat that much.

And I said nothing about chunks. Most liquid pre-op diets don't allow cream Soup, which is why I suppose I was concerned you were encouraging other people to do it.

Hi Sammie! I found this for you. http://www.caloriecount.com/calories-campbells-cheesy-potato-bacon-soup-i420788

Look at the cool little pie chart on the left halfway down the page. It's a nifty little tool to help you know if you are eating a high protein/ low fat/ low carb item. The purpose of the pre- diet is to make your liver shrink so that the surgeon can operate laparoscopically on your stomach, which is under your liver. Now, in some cases, if the liver has not been shrunk, the surgeon will need to terminate the surgery. I don't want that to happen to you over a misunderstanding. So, I hope you double check whether or not this delicious sounding Soup will yield the results the surgeon requires. Take care and good luck.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
