QuilterGal 216 Posted November 1, 2015 I have been on birth control pills continuously for many years. I never get my period. However, I'm now on day eight of my period, even though I'm still taking BC pills. What. The. Heck? I know the weight loss releases estrogen, and it can really do a doosey on us hormonally, but my body is acting as if I'm not even taking BC pills. Do you think I'm more fertile now? Should I use backup BC?
RILEYSMOM22 344 Posted November 1, 2015 That's a question for your Gyn doc. I would call them regardless, just to make sure you have nothing else going on. My sister had a cyst rupture that caused alot of bleeding. However, she was also in pain.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted November 1, 2015 You should talk to your Dr, but I wouldn't trust and oral contraceptive after Bypass. Does your Gyn know you had surgery?

Should I use backup BC? As the others have said, speak to your gyn. From 0 to 8 days strikes me as mighty peculiar all around anyway. Run it by the surgeon, too, in case there's a chance that your cycle has been affected by surgery. The two doctors should talk.
FocusOnMeNow 599 Posted November 1, 2015 Yes and you might want to look into a non-oral contraceptive like a patch or ring for the time being.
