My pre-op visits should be completed by Wednesday but I am having trouble getting a definitive answer from the surgeon's office about my endoscopy. I had an endoscopy in July 2014 (with an H-pylori biopsy). At my consult the surgeon seemed to say that was acceptable but when I received by pre-op orders, endoscopy was listed. Argh. If I have to do that again my surgery date will be pushed back at least a month since getting the endoscopy scheduled this time of year gets tough. (Since I have sleep apnea, the procedure must be done at the hospital and not the outpatient surgery center.)

I have been researching this for a decade and finally am at the point where I KNOW this is the right choice for me, Now I just want to get done.

I am also dreading the two week pre-op diet. I imagine being starving for two weeks straight.

I can definitely understand how waiting can be frustrating. I'm in the process of appealing the denial I received. My coordinator is waiting for one more doctor to send his consult notes. I've been in this process for a little over a year. I know I'm going to get my approval.

Let's keep fighting. We will make it to the losers' side!!

Waiting is very hard! I understand- I had to do a 6 month supervised diet before I could even be submitted to the insurance company! My dad is finally almost here (11/4), so the wait has been worth it. I am on my 13th day of my liquid pre-op diet today and it has been hard! I have only physically been hungry a small handful of times, but head hunger is real! I have made it through, without cheating at all, so I know you can do it! Good luck to you in your journey.

I totally get it. It took me a year to get through my requirements. I thought it would never actually happen. I fretted and worried that something was going to trip me up along the way. I created all these worst case scenarios in my head. I drove myself crazy. It was intense.

But now I look back and laugh, because today it feels like nothing. And I'm able to appreciate more fully that the extra time benefitted me. I was more than prepared. I was absolutely confident I was making the right decision. I have zero regrets.

I promise you, one day you too will look back on this time and laugh. And once the post op period begins you start all over again. It's just a different phase.

Hang in there! ????

Waiting sucks.

I truly get that.

There's a few ways to spend the time. Some good....some not so good.

Don't let the waiting delay you losing weight, though. You can move ahead with a strong weight loss diet now knowing that you'll be transitioning to the surgery and the weight loss will continue on.

The best thing about your 2-week pre-op diet is that it's not 3-weeks. :D

Actually, the best thing about it is that you can better ensure a safer surgery and start losing at a similar rate that you'll experience post-op. It passes quick, too. Once you begin it.....you'll be on the Final Countdown for sure. Good stuff.

Go forth and kick some butt.

I am with you! I am about 30 days into my 90 day program that my insurance requires. I just had an endoscopy done in April of this year and my surgeon wanted me to have another one because he would be performing it. I was annoyed at first (another $200 co-pay!) but I'm very happy he did it because he found a large hiatal hernia that my gastro did not either find or tell me about!

I'm dreading the pre-op diet too. Mine is also two weeks long but we will get through it!

I definitely understand the frustration, I've been doing this since August 2015 and still pre-op, saw my surgeon last month October and won't see him again til next month in Dec....had everything else done, plus blood work now only two tests left which are scheduled are my Upper GI and a sleep study, all to find out it still be a no go for me, I had a Nissen Fundoplication done almost 3 yrs ago and if any damage to my stomach was done then I will be waking up to no procedure and just cuts for nothing...but I have to find out...plus we just found out I'm losing my job in January when the surgery is suppose to take place...so ontop of waiting I'm stressed over losing my job and can't look for another until I'm healed. So your not alone :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
