Any November surgeries?

Recommended Posts

I find it odd that every doctor is completely different on diet pre and post op.

Yogurt seems like an obvious choice, but my doc said no. Just Protein and water/sugar free drink for 2 weeks.

I am down 16 lbs since Monday weigh in.

I agree!!!! My battery is dead in my scale, and it's killing me???????????????? I'm gonna get that darn battery today! And see what the results are. I did notice since yesterday was my first day wearing jeans since the surgery, that I didn't have to tuck and roll, struggle, and there wasn't a need for a belt for my pants to stay up! But I opted to put the belt on because it felt weird! ????????????????

My surgery was Nov 2nd. My Dr did not require preop liquid diet. I am on day 13 and am down 22 pounds since surgery and 56 pounds total :) Starting puree stage which is good, because I have a hard time drinking Protein shakes.

Well had my surgery yesterday and though there is alot of pain it's definitely manageable. I've been up and walking since 2 hrs after waking up which has definitely helped the chest pain. The only issue I've had is that the kitchen brought me a regular Jello instead of sugar free luckily I noticed before I took a bite! Be sure to double check everything! Good luck to those having surgery coming up, I've heard of people having regrets right after, so far non here!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
