Hi Angie

Welcome! Glad you joined us. Where are you having your surgery? It is coming up soon!!!

Forestcat, sorry to hear about your arthritis. I have been trying to walk too, but go to the Y on an irregular basis too.

I am having major PMS cravings again....I hate this time of the month. Weird cravings...salsa, pickles, and chocolate, and some Indian food, yummm. Wish the band would get rid of the cravings.

Terrish

I'm having surgery in Cincinnati with Dr. Curry. SVCH wanted me to jump through way more hoops than I was willing to as a self-pay! Not to mention the extra $5k they wanted for the pleasure!

Hi terrisch -

I'm still plugging along. Had my 3rd fill last week and still little or no restriction. I'm getting very discouraged and having a heck of a time trying to stay motivated. Since this fill, I hardly care at all. But I'm trying to stay on low carb. I know maybe the next fill or 2 will do it, but until then.....:smile2:

How are you doing? Do you have good restriction?

Hi Forestcat

Sorry you aren't feeling any restriction...I wonder why?

I am on the other extreme. I am going to call tomorrow to get unfilled (not total, but some). I can't eat anything until ~noon, and haven't been able to eat any starches except for crackers and tortilla chips. So I have been living off of Soup. Everything else gets stuck, and I wretch and slime for hours. It is so miserable! I even got stuck trying to eat french onion soup today. When I get stuck, I can't even keep fluids down. No potatoes, breads, Pasta, rice.

I think I've lost about 8 pounds since my last fill (late December), but I hate getting food stuck all the time! This weekend was the worst. I hope they can get me in soon.

Do you know how much your band is filled? I am so surprised you don't feel anything after 3 fills. When was your last fill?

My last fill was Feb 29th, and that put me at 6.5. Since my first fill, the only thing I feel different is I get full a little faster. The day after each fill I get the stuck feeling if I try to eat too much, but that goes away by day 2 or 3.

I have my 4th fill on April 11th.

I just posted a question on the main forum about shortness of breath. I've been noticing it for a while now - and wonder if it has anything to do with my last fill. (I think it started soon after that) Of course there's the worry of a blood clot - but almost 5 months after surgery? I've had a lot of stress the past month, so maybe it's anxiety. I plan on calling the surgeon's office about it. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry to hear about your over-fill. Did you get in to the Dr for an unfill? If so - are you feeling better? Let me know.

Hello sbee.

I am currently looking to get banded in Mexico due to insurance issues here in the US. Can you tell me a little bit about your experience getting banded? Any regrets? Hardest part? And, are there any cleveland support groups to go to and discuss the procedure?

Hi Heather:

I would like to get together. I had my surgery on Jan. 23, 08 and just had my first fill two weeks ago. My experience is still fairly new and I don't know if I could add to a conversation but I would be interested getting a group together. Thanks, Shawna

Hi terrisch,

I think it's cool to have another Clevelander here. (Although I'm going to the Clinic.) You about a month ahead of me so I'll be really intrested in how you're doing. Congrats on being banded!!!! BTW did you have a pre-op diet???

Hi,

Getting banded tomorrow, I am 226. Very excited. Hope to have some cleveland support when finished. Any groups available? I would like to physically go and talk to some people or form our own little group. Any takers. I live on the west side of cleveland.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
