I am all for support and get togethers -- I am in mayfield once a month to see my oncologist -- in Cancer remission for 1 1/2 years now. But banded for about 6 months. Not happy with my weight loss but still working on it ,

I think the three of us are all within a 20 minute drive from each other more or less and I am willing to drive. Perhaps a Saturday afternoon for coffee or something similar might be fun if you are free. If we can work something out, we can send contact information as a private message.

I am a little further along in banding but will definitely need to take off a few pounds post pregnancy. It is wonderful to be able to support each other through our journeys no matter how far along we are post banding. :0)

Hi Clevelanders-

I am newly banded Sept 17--and was hoping to get in touch with bandsters from my area. Also, was wondering if any of you know of any Doctors in the area that will do follow up care/fills???

Hope to hear from someone :cursing:

K~

Hello and welcome. A_thinner_me, scanlon21 and I have met before for coffee before in the Willoughby location. We were hoping to set something up again very soon. Perhaps you can join us next time.

I travel to Columbus for fills/aftercare. My doctor does accept new patients but there is a new patient fee to join the group. I go through Cincinnati Weight Loss which you can find online.

When I was first looking for a new doctor, I also found that Dr. Chlysta based out of Akron General will also do fills/aftercare. However appointments were $500 each so I didn't consider going to him. There are also other groups in the Cleveland area that do bariatric care (St. Vincents hospital has commercials from time to time). Perhaps a couple of quick phone calls might lead you in the right direction.

Good luck in your search. :0)

I just discovered this location specific area this morning. Are any Clevelanders still active on this site? I am not yet banded but I hope soon (appt @ Cleve Clinic this Friday).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
