how much weight did you gain from the surgery?

Recommended Posts

I weighed in at 352.8 before surgery and was super happy with my 49 lb weight loss, only to weigh in at 360 the next morning. My surgeon said that it's perfectly normal because he pumped me full of fluids in the expectation that they'd be hard to get down in the next few days. Wondering how much others gained from the surgery and how long it took to lose it...

I didn't weigh myself after my sleeve surgery because I was stuck in the hospital for days, but after all three of my plastics procedures during which time they used about the same amount of fluids, if not less, I gained a solid 10 pounds immediately after surgery and it took about 3-4 days to get back to my normal weight. Weight gain after surgery is normal and you shouldn't retain the extra Fluid for longer than a few days.

Weighed in at 213 then 217 after surgery. Today is day 4, I guess, and am 210.

I gained nearly 10 pounds after the surgery, but lost that all within 5 days.

I quit weighing for a few days after getting home from the hospital and seeing 8+ pounds more than pre-op weight.

By the sixth day I'd lost all that Fluid weight. My surgeon laughed a and said he doesn't pay attention to the scales the first week or two.

It's all good.

For this very reason, I waited to get on a scale until my first week follow-up appointment with my surgeon.

It's not uncommon but not everyone experiences this. I was peeing like a race horse from the moment I woke up in recovery. In fact it's the reason why I walked in recovery; I had to pee! I just didn't want to use a bed pan. My first day I may have gone to the bathroom every 30 mins.

I didn't weigh myself until my 2 week f/u. Thankfully I saw a loss.

From the morning of surgery on a Monday, to the time I was released on Wednesday afternoon, I gained 18.8 pounds! My doctor believes in pumping in the fluids!

I don't remember the exact number but I do remember a several pound gain and it really just was from the IV fluids. It came right off.

I didn't weigh until my one week follow up where I showed a loss. There is no rational reason to weigh the day after surgery. None. I can't imagine any surgeon encouraging anyone to get near a scale that first week.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
