I'm not on the site very often so its rare that I post. I have to be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about it and quite frankly I know you don't really care, however, I thought I would give some advice that may result in contributions.

- Go Fund Me irks me as I can't verify where the money is actually going or being spent.

- If you had said in your post you needed the money because you had life threatening co-morbidity issues I would have thought twice.

- Details matter in this case; otherwise, what separates you from the other 100 posts a day that can't get surgery because they can't pay?

I really didn't think that is what they meant by this being a "support" board.

Good luck in your funding...I personally don't give strangers money.

I am very sorry for your struggles.

I too am trying to come up with money for my surgery. We're re-budgeting and selling and saving and all that jazz. I will have to finance some of it, but it is what it is.

Have you looked into financing?

Have you tried CareCredit? https://www.mysynchrony.com/merchants/carecredit-login.html

I ended up having to finance almost all of the costs through them. Not sure how I am going to pay it all off but I'm so glad I had the surgery. I am 5 weeks out and plan to start looking for a second job soon to help with the payments.

Wish I could do more to help. Good luck.

a little advice. have your doctor set up a fund for you so people can contribute to him directly. then at least people know where the money is going.

or go to Mexico. they will finance anyone - even with bad credit. and it's only 8k there vs. 11 or more in the states.

best of luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
