I can relate about the size being small. I am down to 195 an I just got into size 8/10 jeans. I still have somemore to lose but excercising to get the skin tightened up now for summer. I have hit a plateau. Did you?

I'm not sure who your questions are directed to, but if you were talking to me, here are my answers and comments.

You must be pretty tall? I am pretty short. I weigh less than you but can't get into a size 8 or 10 jeans. It was great getting into normal sizes though! And my goal is to get into a size 10 Petite. When I was younger I wore an 8 Petite, but I think that's an unrealistic goal for me these days.

Yes, I have hit a plateau as well. I bounce around up a few lbs. and then down a few but basically have hovered around the same weight for many months. I'm going to have to seriously cut back again and step up the exercise to get past it.

Good luck to you! And congratulations on the success you've already had.

I'm working on the 32 chews and it's getting a little easier. Thanks. I'm also at a plateau and I know it isn't easy. My goal is to get into normal size clothes, like a large in Macy's and size 14 pants so I don't have to shop in the Women's Dept and the sizes in the regular sizes fit. Right now I'm between an XL and 1x so nothing fits right. But soon....

Arkie

Did you get the fill when you went to the doctor? Maybe with the fill you won't need to stay on the Atkins diet

Yes, I got a fill the 19th. I think I am up to 7 1/2 cc.

I showed a loss of 7 pounds. Right now I am feeling restriction so I will do regular food for a few weeks and see if I am still losing weight.

At 54 years of age its a lot slower than I had dreamed it would be. I got my band 10-10-2007 and still haven't reached the 50 pound mark yet.I keep telling myself I can do it.

Hello Everyone.

I'm sure this question may have already been answered, but I can't go through the 30 pages of this thread :bored:

What are you suppose to eat BEFORE a fill? I'm due for my first on the 3rd of February.

Thanks

That is a good question. My doctor never me gave me pre-fill diet instructions. However, I do not eat before a fill. I drink fluids and then go in for the fill. As an example, yesterday I had my fourth fill.

I was not expecting a fill, but called in for a last minute fill. Lucky for me I had only had fluids prior to the fill. The reason why I say that, for me, I get very tight when they are filling me. I can literally feel the difference; the tightening.

Anyway, I was on liquids all day yesterday and will be on liquids all of today. Then on mushies Friday and Saturday.

Good luck!

Eat whatever will go down, but focus on Protein. This is the last "hard" food that you will eat until a couple of days after the fill. The first day, they will have you stay on liquids and then "mushies" for a day.......

honestly I don't eat before I go. I might have a cup of coffee because I always schedule them early in the morning..I don't think it matters if you eat but you should stick (I think) to a Protein Drink or soft food....

What are you suppose to eat BEFORE a fill?

You really need to clarify this with your doctor, as I'm sure different practices have different rules. My instructions are "liquids only" two hours prior to band adjustment.

It's really interesting to read the different instructions that people get for eating before and after a fill. My doctor has never suggested any kind of restricted meals before or just after a fill.

I get my fills late in the afternoon. I don't eat a lot on that day simply because I know I'm going to be weighed and I don't want to be embarrassed. After the fill I usually enjoy something I really like because I know that in a few days or a week I will be feeling much more restricted and I won't be able to eat more than a few bites at each meal.

I have never felt more restricted when I have just finished getting a fill. I can tell when he takes the fill out and puts it back, but I don't become more restricted right away.

The Body Bugg is a device that you wear on your upper arm that reads how much energy you are expending every day (or as long as you wear it). To get a true reading on how much you're taking in vs. how much you're burning, you have to log onto a website and enter everything you have eaten while you wear the Bugg. It is really cool and it lets you know more accurately what it takes for you to actually lose weight. Everyone I've know who has used it faithfully for at least a week or two has lost weight. It's a great little monitoring tool.

I did find wearing it pretty annoying though after about a week at a time. And it did get tedious logging in my food intake. But it seriously helped me and I had the best weight loss while I was using it than I've had since I got the band. And yes, it is expensive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
