Yes. Have you talked to the surgeon? At this point, that is your better bet to see if something has changed. Either that or they would send you to a GI.

With untreated severe reflux, usually you give it time, and if it continues you may need a conversion to a gastric bypass to resolve the GERD. It is not uncommon. Good luck.. You must be miserable! See your surgeon.

I had my sleeve gastrectomy done on the 13th of February 2015 and have had nothing but trouble with reflux. I am on 120mg-160mg of Nexium, Gaviscon and Zantac and still no help, will always have acid reflux. Night time seems to be the worst, I wake up every night vomiting up bile/acid. I had an endoscope done 2 weeks ago and ever since then the issues have gotten a lot worse and I don't find out till the 16th of December 2015, so hoping to find out what their plans are as the surgeon has no idea what surgery to do, he is stumped. Not feeling the best and I am quite depressed. It is a bad feeling and I hate it.

Mandy how are you doing? I had the sleeve done Feb 2015 and have been suffering from GERD since June/ July. After endoscope, upper gi, ph test, and ultra sound I am finally scheduled for a bypass in 5 days. I cant wait to get rid of the pain.

How did you sleeve to bypass go? I hadn't had any problems until about 3 months ago I started having swallowing problems and after an esophogram they said I have dysmotility and I might have to have a bypass now. Just wondering how yours turned out?

Thanks!

This is a closed/secret group for everyone who is going to have bypass surgery in February 2016!

We would LOVE to have you join in wit us! Just go to Facebook and search my name LaNae Davis Petersen, send me a friend request. I can then send you an invite to secret page and then I'll remove you back off my friends list :)

It's meant to be a positive group who we can all be going through the same things at the same tim on this journey! The goals will be to provide support, bounce questions off each other, have somewhere safe to share on the days that aren't so great, and share our victories on this journey!

MOST importantly it's all confidential, unless you are in this group people can't see the group, who's in it or what the posts are.

I am two months in and my reflux is horrible, I hurt so bad, I can't have a bypass, that's not even an option, does this ever go away, the whole back of my neck feels like it's burning, my chest seems ok, it's more in my throat and neck that's hurting, any thoughts?

Did you have to write a letter to insurance for approval to switch from sleeve to bipass?? I was sleeved 12-30-14 and have suffered with acid reflux and it is just getting worse. My doctor submitted paperwork for the conversion but it was denied. I have tried almost every medicine they have and done numerous tests. Now I have to write a letter to try and get it approved.

What insurance do you have? What tests did they run? My doctor did an endoscope, upper gi and ultra sound. Once those results came back she sent in for approval while waiting she ran a 24 hr ph test to have in case they denied it. But they approved it right away for a quality of life issue.

I am having the same problem since my sleeve in April 2014, severe GERD. I have been on several meds to try and treat it with no success. I went and saw a GI doctor and he suggested I try a procedure called "Linx", if you are unsure what this is you can google it. It is not an FDA approved procedure so I am not sure I will go through with it yet, my second option is going to a bypass. I am really confused as to what to do but I want relief from this GERD like now. Would love to talk to people who have had this "Linx" or have gone from sleeve to bypass. I need to make a decision very soon.

Thank You in advance

I just did the revision February 1. And have had no Gerd since then. I'm in Oregon also. It is the best decision I've made. I've heard minimal about the linx, but my surgeon doesn't offer it. The recovery time from rny was less than half of the sleeve.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
