It's really hard to tell. I think that age, heredity, skin elasticity and more. I would say you would likely expect some excess skin. But honestly - for me anyway - even with the excess skin, it was worth it

I think it depends on a lot of things like: age, genetics, where and how you carried your excess weight, etc.

I started at 271 pounds and I am 5'3" and was 43 when I had my sleeve.

I am now between 140-145.

My face and neck have done great, arms look pretty good, my legs are great except for a tiny patch about the size of my palm that is at the inner upper thigh that is a lot saggier than I expected. My stomach is still chubby. The rest of me is skin and bones, but that tummy seems to grip and hold onto all the chub it can. LOL. My boobs are saggy but nothing I can't live with. If I get tired of any of it I can always have plastics.

Truly the skin sag is so worth the weight loss, lots of energy and zest for life that I have gained.

It depends on so much. I started at 222 pounds. I began exercising, put a full gym in my home, as soon as I got the green light from my doctor. I toned as I lost. Luckily I had no loose skin. I'm not sure if that was the key or just simply helpful.

Can't gauge yourself off of others. I was 59, my height is 5', and I weighed 291. I am now 61 and weigh 137. I have lots of excess skin. However, I have weighed over 300 most of my adulthood. My stomach area has always been very big around and I have always had thick legs even as a teen because of my height. No amount of toning exercise will get rid of excess skin. Ask a trainer. You can tone underneath.

Did you lift weights more so than cardio in order to achieve your results?

I started at 268 and have lost 84 pounds. Like the original poster I'm 5'4". I have saggy skin in my arms and upper thighs. My belly has some extra skin as to be expected from being overweight and having had 4 pregnancies. I have been jogging for the last 3 years, but still have saggy skin. Everyone will be different because their bodies, diet, and habits are different.

I'm 26yrs old, 5'5", and weigh 223. I'm wondering how much loose skin I'll have as well. My doctor said staying hydrated and working out to build muscle helps a lot.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
