Bikini area port?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone who has the port in the bikini area let me know how it is. I have mine just under my bra and it is very uncomfortable. Dr. Yau has offered to move it. I originally wanted it in the bikini area but now am not sure. Please let me know if you have any discomfort from leaning on it or if it gets in the way of anything.......you know....

Thanks for any info.

LOL, havn't tried "that" yet only a wk post op...

BUT when I am leaning against the kitchen sink, my port and the edge of the counter top are the exact MATCH! So as it is still purple/yellow and bruised its a bit tender if I forget and connect.

Now once all the bruising is gone it may not be an issue at all. I am pleased though that my "panties' or bathing suit bottom will hide the port bump(if there ever is one?)

Also, I am glad it is there and not MID abdomen as I do yoga and a lot of AB excersises so when I am bending to touch my toes I didnt' want to be impeded by the port...

Maybe that's why he put it there???

Preop discussion he said it was going to be below my left rib mid abdomen... when I woke up... it was in the "bikini" area...??? go figure?

Hi DonnaD

No it is not around my pubic bone. Its higher than that, closer to my navel..

2" below by belly button and to the left of it my 1 1/2"....

Yes, I can feel it with my hand if I press there... its not too far under the skin...

But if I am wearing a two peice bathing suit ( Ya I wish!) it would be BELOW that for sure... not quite Bikini material but I am happy

I;ll be areally happy when its not Yellow/purple anymore ha,ha

Hi Peaches

I think I will just mark where the kitchen counter is on my body and ask him to avoid that area. He can go up or down from there.

Thanks for the input.

How are you feeling?

OH Donna D;

I am feeling G R E A T .... a little too great... my Pre Surg appetite is B-A-C- K

and I've had some cravings too!

I am thinking it might have to do with the two glasses of Sangria I had this last couple of days when I had GF visiting from Out of town.

Alcholol turns to sugar in the blood, and the cravings started the day after.... yikes.

So yest, I ate 18oo cals..... I've been sticking to under 1000

How are YOU doing?

I'm doing well. I had gained 2 lbs at my last fill so I have been very good since. I weighed this am and am now 189 lbs. I am trying to remember my password to change my ticker. I'm glad your doing ok but try to keep an eye on what your eating. Take it slow and try to stick to the post op diet at least until week 3.

I have also read that some people get irritated by their pant waist band with the port there. I have my port about 5 inches under my left breast, 1 inch to the right, and it doesn't bother me at all

Thanks Bejeweled

We both started at almost the same weight. Don't get bummed if not much happens during this post op time. When you get your fills that when you can start to kick some ass...

DONNA D;

Thanks for the kind words of advise... I have been doing much better in my "Mushy" phase.

Still doing Pro. shakes for breaky as it's fast and I started a new job this week. lunch I'm taking last night leftovers pulverized in my food processor and apple sauce

TOday I had mashed up meatballs/gravy & pumpkin custard... didn't have room for my applesauce.

Supper was ';out for dinner with DH" and I had Fish & chips(swapped for roasted potatoes) and mashed all with a fork... oonly ate 1/2 my dinner as it was WAY toomuch food..... my stomach was happy but my EYES wanted to eat the whole thing!!!

Plus my DH was having TWO helpings of all you can eat Fajitas!!!!

Now I am having a nice cup of Decaf coffee on my puter.

;-D

:sick

Hi there;

you do have a point about the waistband thing.... I do wear 'elastic' banded pants no bluejeans for me as yet... so I'm pretty comfortable so far..

It's just doing the dishes that I have an issue, my PORT is exactly the height of my counter top edge... so now I lean forward from my right-hand side of my tummy... just a small adaptation LOL

SEX was good!! whoo-hoo no issues there!:whoo:

Donna_D,

How did the replacement site surgery go today? Are you satisfied with where the doctor re-placed your port site? How are you feeling?

I hope all is well with you.

Peaches you little rascal....

Bejeweled I arrived at tlbc at 1 pm and found out my surgery was not until 3 and they were already at least an hour behind I asked if I could come another time. So I will have it done next Thursday. Where is your port again? I think the best spot for me is just below where my rib cage ends just to the left. If you read Peaches hers hits the counter and at the waist will be a pain. How you doing?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
