100 pounds gone party!

Recommended Posts

Congratulations...I recently got there too (about two weeks ago I hit the 100 lbs mark off peak weight). Parties are definitely a different animal nowadays...so I guess really high-Protein hors d'oeuvres. Sadly, this is where many people's efforts all come tumbling down...a carb escapade to Celebrate a benchmark. The story of Mike Hebranko is the most harrowing of all...it's amazing the cascade that a single Nathan's hot dog can set off. So let's both be smart...I'm starting to plan my Onederland party as well.

Sounds fun! I'm interested to hear how it turns out. I'd make bariatric friendly foods like cheese crisps with salsa, hummus and veggies, shrimp cocktail, etc.

Please keep us posted!

Try partying without food .... Bowling, movies, skating, anything that doesn't revolve around eating but where you can still have a good time.

At this point I can say that food just isn't enough of a priority to be considering it in party planning

There are other things that matter more.

Now is the time to learn how to Celebrate without food. That's a slippery slope that lead many of us to needing surgery in the first place.

Why not celebrate by pampering yourself? Get a mani/pedi or treat yourself to a massage? I did a spa day with girlfriends this summer. We bought them off groupon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
