ThruChristICan 27 Posted October 26, 2015 Hi everyone, I had surgery on October 6th and today I am exactly 20 days post op. I could seriously use some help from some of you. I went to my 2 week post op appointment on Thursday October 15th and I was 12 lbs down since surgery (great ????) Then I was upgraded to puree foods. About 3-4 days after that I saw that I gained 4lbs ????????. And I panicked because I haven't heard of this. I hadn't been over eating because you get full quick, I hadn't been eating starch, I have been follow Doctors orders to the T with my Protein and Water intake. So I began researching and I found out it was some what normal (sigh of relief ????) but I haven't seen those extra lbs come off yet. I can admit I know I may be over thinking it but it's only because I want to do well and use this tool to my best abilities. And yes I'll be talking with my Doctor but until then can someone please shed some light on this. Thanks so much! Sincerely, A sleeve newbie
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted October 26, 2015 It could be anything. Water weight (especially if your cycle causes weight gain at particular times), Constipation (yes *that* weighs a lot), not weighing at the same time each day, broken scale, body just being weird . . . and hang on, because your body will continue to be weird. Minor fluctuations like this will continue to happen. What you really need to pay attention to is long-term trends. I would suggest either weighing yourself less frequently or using something like trendweight.com to see the bigger picture and get away from having little blips stress you out. Good luck! Rebeccaabrooks86 269 Posted October 26, 2015 This recently happened to me when I changed food stages. I was down 13 lbs then up almost 2. I really panicked. Then a Bariatric buddy of mine told me when she first started out one week she was up 2 and the next week down 12. And my mom who had the surgery and my buddy both said that this is a normal time to hit a stall since your body is adjusting. Just hang in there and the weight will start to come down. I know it can be scary, I felt the same way! Just try to focus on how you feel and not the numbers!
