DarlaRay145 4 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) I had gastric bypass on 12/2012 at 301 lbs. My 6/2013 I lost 80 lbs. and was down to 220 lbs. I was 3 hours with a personal trainer every week and working out on my own the other days. My appetite was pretty fair and i was eating like i was supposed to. By the end of 2013 i found out that i had a gastro-gastric fistula (an opening in the new stomach, leading to the old stomach). This caused me to have a greater appetite and i was able to eat more. Long story short...i have gained all but 12 lbs. back and want to have the fistula repaired. I have spoken to a surgeon and the repair is covered by insurance so financially it will not be a problem. I am nervous about the procedure because of all of the problems i had with the previous one. The doctor would like to fix the fistula and essentially give me the gastric sleeve. Has anyone gone through this situation? I've waiting a couple years because i was scared and i wanted to lose the weight on my own. Much harder than i thought. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Edited October 26, 2015 by DarlaRay145
bangbangbarbie 52 Posted October 29, 2015 I have not personally experienced this but I am so sorry! You can do this! I do urge you to really reconsider your habits. This surgery will not stop you from having an appetite or eating more, YOU will stop you. The fistula is a horrible complication but only you are responsible for any weight regain, before or in the future. There are countless times I want to eat more and can physically eat more.. But have to restrain myself. I'm not perfect either, but I've learned that this surgery is only a tool. I encourage you to look into your future and how this time will be different. Keep us updated! Good luck!
