Restriction ?

Recommended Posts

Hi I just think this is strange and wanted to ask if anyone else has had this feeling. I have 3ccs in my 10cc band and I feel no restriction at all, but the strangest thing is that when I eat certain things like light wheat bread it does get stuck. I had it happen today. I always wondered how anyone would know if something got stuck well I answered my own question , boy did I know it really hurt so I drank Water quickly and it loosened up so I will not eat bread again. I am surprised that I dont get full easy but I can get clogged up. I am not drinking when I eat and I am eating solids protiens and veggies. Strange ha ? I cant wait to get another fill but at the same time I am a bit worried to but I am not losing as quickly as I would like. I have made up my mind tomorrow I am getting up extra early and starting a exercise routine, I really have not exercised but at the same time I am non stop with three small children .

Did anyone else have this happen feeling like you have room to eat but can get things stuck ?

Thanks Kim:)

Getting food stuck is very common. You have to chew your food until it's liquid.< /p>

There are somethings that you just won't be able to eat with the band. For me it is bread. If you are getting stuck now, without restriction I would be very careful down the road. And remember just because something is ok 1 day does not mean it is ok the next! :)

bread is a no-no for many people. Most? Perhaps? Take smaller bites, chew well, follow the rules, and if you still get stuck you'll know bread is not going to be in your diet especially with more restriction.

I am on fill 2 and still don't feel the restriction. In the mornings I am tight, but after about 11am it's like I don't have the band. That being said, I do eat sandwhiches. And if I am not careful- SMALL bites.. it does get hung up. I had a PB&J sandwhich for dinner last night, I ate it without incident, didn't feel like it was stuck or anything, but about 20 minutes after I ate I took a big swig of Water, and I realized my pouch was full or whatever.. I had to go 'spit up' all of the water, it was making a horrible pain in my chest from mixing with the sandwhich. Sometimes things like this surprise me, since I don't feel like I'm restricted.

Laura, if you can eat an entire sandwich you don't have enough restriction. I can only eat 1/4 of a sandwich. I would go back in for a fill if I were you. Good luck.

I agree! My next fill is Aug 6. I'm slowly getting there, I'm eating less than I was since my last fill, but I still don't get the restriction throughout the day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
