kranky813 477 Posted October 26, 2015 So, I spend the majority of my day yesterday in the ER with Kidney Stones. From what the ER doc said they can be pretty common with WLS. Has anyone else on here had them? I honestly thought I was going to die or that my appendix was bursting. I was in the ER screaming, moaning and crying my eyes out. Worst pain I have ever felt in my whole life and I had a natural childbirth with my daughter. That was a breeze compared to this stupid kidney stone!! I am 2 weeks pre-op & my surgeon has everyone start a medincine he prescribes to prevent gallstones. We take it 2 weeks before & 6 months after surgery. Maybe be something to check into with your surgeon/dr.I hope you feel better soon!!! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
NewMeLinZ 66 Posted October 29, 2015 Everyone in our doc office gets put on Ursodial if you still have your gall bladder. Losing weight fast causes your body to create stones. This med helps keep them from forming.
ZoeyBear 64 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) I've had kidney stones 5 times! You're not kidding about the pain!!! I have not had them since my surgery in April, though. I would think the excess Water we are supposed to drink should keep them at a minimum! Edited November 2, 2015 by ZoeyBear
AlanaRN 419 Posted November 2, 2015 I had them twice in May and it was absolutely awful. Worst pain imaginable and I've had 3 c sections! I'm an ER nurse and after rolling around on the floor for 4 hours I finally brought myself in! I wouldn't wish them on my enemy. My urologist said it does happen after WLS. The Candidate 3,215 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) I've had them twice in my life, both before surgery. The first was so bad that I was hospitalized for three days. I had no idea what was happening, and the excruciating pain came out of nowhere. I remember I was vacuuming at the time. And when I finally got home again the vacuum was still sitting there where I'd left it in the middle of the room. The second time I knew exactly what was happening, so it wasn't as traumatic. But it's a pain you never forget. Hope you're feeling better now! Edited November 2, 2015 by The Post Op
