Are you partying? Trick-or-treating? Staying at home to answer the door for trick-or-treaters? Whatever it is, you’re better off with a plan to stay away from the candy, cider, candy, doughnuts, and candy that’ll be EVERYWHERE this week and weekend.

What’s your fail-proof plan to keep that candy from entering your body?

Instead of eating the stuff, we will be getting dressed up and scaring the crap out of the kids! It is a family tradition that is usually followed by Chinese food take out.

That will not be the case this year at least for me........

We are not buying candy to hand out this year, instead the kiddies are getting Capri Sun pouches! So no candy in the house = not any leftovers to eat! LOL

Since I will only be 4 days post-op on Halloween this year, I plan on NOT leaving a light on and not answering the door, etc. I didn't buy any candy b/c I would be tempted to eat it before surgery :( and post-op I don't want to be hopping up to answer the door! My kids will be at their dad's house that night anyway so I can just ignore the entire thing!

Where I'm living right now gets NO trick or treaters, so I don't have to buy candy. Candy is also not my trigger. I can easily pass it by, even chocolate. As long as I don't start.

Two friends and I are going to a Halloween party at a local ballroom. It was such fun to buy a costume off the rack that fit me on the first try.

I plan to nurse my cranberry juice and have lots of fun.

my husband is in a musical so I will be in the audience on halloween night, and that will be followed by the cast party that we are both going to.

but I actually bought a bag of candy just for myself and have been able to have one "fun size" piece a day and still stay within my calorie goal an I'm still loosing

in previous years we would hit the stores the day AFTER halloween and get all the clearance candy we could and have a pig out day.

This year we're going to my sister's. My sons have never really done trick or treating, so I'm letting them get the experience. I've never made a big deal if this 'holiday'. They aren't big candy eaters either, so I'll probably leave most at my sister's.

If we were going to be home, we'd buy candy I don't like to give out; it's what we've done in the past.

Well my Dr brought me these little evil gems to the clinic as a "thank you" while I was filling in for them. I didn't eat any of them but they did stare at me all crazy on my two hour drive home! We had a "chat" about how I was not in any way attracted to them (lie) and how they were extremely lucky that I didn't believe in littering because if I did they would find their little pumpkin butts on the side of the highway! Then, for the cruelty they put me through I sicked the kids on them and BAM they are officially gone now.

I am 7 days post op sleeve. So far I went to the grocery store with mum, bought my veggies to make Soups for the next 17 days. Then we mega stocked up on candy for all the kiddos coming by to trick or treat. After that there will be a Halloween party for the adults in the neighborhood!! I am very much looking forward to seeing all the kids in their costumes. I don't really care about the candy but I was apprehensive at first about going to the party considering I can't eat. But then I thought that it would be ridiculous to hold myself back from social events over some silly food so I am going for the fun! Not the the food

For the first time in something like twenty years I am dressing up and going to a Halloween party. I'm a french waiter and have put together a fun costume which includes an ordering pad. I'm going to pretend to take orders then rip off the paper and hand it back to the person with something written on it. So far I have several pages of things like "Separation of Church & State" and "Three Orders Peace, One order Love," etc. Should be a fun party. There will be dancing, which is something I really enjoy so much now that I'm back in my body.

Going to a party! Yes, there will be lots of food there, but there will be plenty of good choices, (veggie trays, hummus, etc) and most importantly nothing left at MY house for days afterwards for me to graze on! I have good enough habits now, regular exercise and built in Portion Control, that I don't tend to get in trouble for "one night out" it's when I have multiple days of bad decisions that I see it reflected on the scale. Bring it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
