Chin up, from what I read this is pretty normal. It's totally acceptable to put yourself on a time out or a while if you think it will help you!

From reading and reading some more on sleeve surgery this sounds very common to feel down or mourn the past abilities. Just think of the abilities you are unlocking by getting each day/step closer to a healthier body. However are you saying you can't sip fluids? Or you can't take a gulp of fluids? If you can't keep sipping fluids to keep hydrated, you should reach out to your surgeons office for next steps. Dehydration is serious stuff.

Hugs,

Barb

You just had surgery.

It takes a few days to get in the groove.

It's all going to work out really well.

@@JudeaJordon - sorry you're having a bad time with this. It does get better. But....let me say this.

My saddest point on this journey was my first time going out to dinner. I was so overwhelmed with not being able to eat like I used to that it became too much. My advice is to start thinking about where food was your most enjoy activity because those experiences are going to change and possibly go away. Start thinking about food as nourishment not as enjoyment. this really helped me overcome my sadness around food and eating.

Hope this helps.

I went through a similar phase - for about 2-3 weeks post op. It's so hard to find replacements for using food for comfort. I watched videos and got a bunch of mysteries and it helped me get through.

Now I'm 6weeks post op and I feel a lot better and regulated.

You can do this!!

Yes, the mind is the hardest organ to fix. I wish they had cut into that more than my stomach!! The three week blues are completely normal. Happen to everybody.

Going out to dinner, advice: don't go to your normal restaurants, pick new ones because the old habits and experiences won't be there. Great time to try small new things.

But honestly, it's hard., the surgery was the easy part. But, I'm 5 month post op and ran my first 5k today and down 86 lbs.

You will do this and more.. This too shall pass ( spoiler, the 70 lb stall is much more depressing!! ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
