In a few days I start soft food do you think raw smoked salmon would be fine? I mean I would assume not because it does say on my sheet to half one piece of toast lol but just trying to get opinions. My surgery was 10/7/2015

I had RNY gastric bypass surgery 29 months ago. For the first 4 weeks I was on Full liquids. The next 4 weeks was pureed Foods. After that it was Solid Foods.

pureed food has the consistency of mashed potatoes. It generally means that you need to prepare the food first in a blender or food processor. My guidelines included fish in the pureed stage. Avocado's were not listed but I would suspect that because it is a very soft food that it would be fine, provided it was mashed or blended.

I have had Salmon in many forms since surgery. Out of the can with lemon, salt, pepper and a spicy mustard. Fresh put in tinfoil and baked til cooked. Smoked, thinly sliced, mixed with capers, cream cheese and smeared on Wheat Thins (just a few) and grilled with olive oil, lemon with a few sprigs of Asparagus. I even made a low-carb Salmon Patty then drizzled with garlic Aioli sauce.

And my favorite is with baked salmon, flaked over zoodles with sesame oil and white sesame seeds. Yummo!

I followed my Surgeon and NUT's plan to a T. My plan never included pureed food and by day ten I was allowed soft Proteins which included salmon, tuna, other flaky fish, turkey and chicken. I just made sure that whatever Protein I was eating was super moist, chewed really well and only small bites were taken.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
