Yup in about 6 months. And trust me when I say wait the full six months. I was trying to eat beef 6/7 weeks post-op and got super sick and in the hospital. Give your body the time it needs to heal fully before putting your stomach under that amount of stress. Also, cause I know at least one person in here has already said it, follow whatever plan your doctor and nutritionist has planned out for you. They are your experts and if they are telling you not to try and eat something now, then its for good reasons. Don't let your cravings win over this, cause trust me the consequences are so not work it.

I'm currently on full liquids, 5 days post op. I know Protein is the priority---so does this mean eventually steak will be able to be consumed, even if it's just a couple bites? I can't imagine eating it now, but I assume if it's tender enough there won't be a problem? (Can you tell I'm craving to CHEW on something? Haha)

I had a lovely 2 oz filet for dinner tonight, and I'm 7 weeks post-op. I cooked it in a cast Iron skillet to get a nice crust and it was medium rare. So yummy! Served with a garlic Parmesan spaghetti squash. My favorite post-op meal so far!

That looks delicious.

So glad to hear I will still be able to eat a small piece of steak after surgery.

Don't miss the best part, you can do great grass fed high quality...when you are only doing 4 ounces at a time you can afford it.

Oh, satisfy the steak craving by putting roasts in the crock pot and make it very tender.

I crave steak now sometimes. Feels good to eat meat that isn't friggin' chicken!! I tried it for the first time at 4 months with no problems. I ordered a ribeye cooked medium. Nice and tender. Of course I barely at any of it but my husband sure loved the leftovers for lunch the next day :-)

I think I waited until about 8 or 9 weeks post op. I tried a filet. I have had filet, ribeye and a good sirloin since then. I eat my steak really rare. Come to think of it I like my fish that way too. Yum, sushi.

I tried thin steak 2 days ago for the first time. I think I freaked myself out and only ate 2 bites for fear it wouldn't sit well. I didn't have issues with the 2 bites but I think I'll wait a little longer to really try eating it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
