I'm currently on full liquids, 5 days post op. I know Protein is the priority---so does this mean eventually steak will be able to be consumed, even if it's just a couple bites? I can't imagine eating it now, but I assume if it's tender enough there won't be a problem? (Can you tell I'm craving to CHEW on something? Haha)

I eat it all the time! Tri tip, mostly. I did have some problems with it early out (4-6 months), so I would only get the most tender cuts. Now I seem to handle it much better. I love me a good steak!

When you say a "problem" with it...what's the problem? Stomach ache? Vomiting? Stuck feeling? I love steak too :)

Ohhh I like steak. The trick is to only eat a few bites and then wait a bit to decide if you're full. Dense Protein like steak is something I enjoy, however I have to be extra careful to eat slowly, chew it a lot, and not put anything like oil or sauce on it, otherwise it hurls itself right back out of my mouth.

I love beef. I can only have about two bites of it where chicken I can have a lot more.

I cook it in my slow cooker to make it extra tender.

I love steak!! I just started eating it recently and I am 16 months post op. I tried it a few times earlier and it just didn't appeal to me. It didn't make me sick, but as soon as I would put it in my mouth and start to chew I would lose my taste for it. I have no problems with it now. Guess my taste buds just had to catch up.

Just upset stomach...almost like it was too hard to digest. Honestly was the only food that ever gave me an issue.

I haven't thrown up once since surgery 14 months ago :)

I love love love a good medium/medium rare steak! I couldn't tolerate steak for the first 2-3 months, but YES steak is do-able for me now. In fact, we had bacon wrapped filets last night, and I can eat almost half of a 6oz one LOL! Leftovers are guarded and used for lunch the next day!

Weirdly enough my sleeve does not get along well with chicken, but steak agrees with it! I love very rare steak, so it probably helps that it's very tender. I started at about two months post op with very small portions/bites and tolerate it fine

I had a lovely 2 oz filet for dinner tonight, and I'm 7 weeks post-op. I cooked it in a cast Iron skillet to get a nice crust and it was medium rare. So yummy! Served with a garlic Parmesan spaghetti squash. My favorite post-op meal so far!

YES, steak should be rare. My husband always orders his well done and I'm like why are you destroying that piece of meat?

Haven't thrown up! Yay...so happy for you! That too is my goal in this, I hear so much talk about vomiting and regurgitating--I thought it was inevitable! I'm not usually a "puker" and haven't thrown up yet, hope it stays that way :)

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
