Orbera Success strategies

Recommended Posts

@@Wayward Traveler - thanks for thinking of me. Yes, I am still on track tomorrow for Orbera. Procedure is scheduled for 1:15. I will try to update tomorrow night. I'm anxious, nervous, hopeful and a little scared. But certainly confident that I will be following all the recommendations with your helpful summaries!

@@SLSH - thank you ... I hope you're right. Sometimes being mildly OCD comes in handy ... if only that's all it took - lol! ;-)

@@ophelia150 - good luck! I will keep an eye out for you tomorrow and will send lots of happy thoughts your way. I am definitely feeling all of the same things (gulp), so I understand what you're going through. I'm glad that my summary helped - lol!! :-D But I've never done this before either, so it's probably better to defer to everyone else here. ;-) Hopefully we can support each other through this ... I certainly wish you great success and hope that our journeys are fruitful. Cheers!!

If I had to do it over yes I would because everyone has their own experience! My doc gave me the patch, zofran and amind for nausea! I used all of them!

I just passed 1/2 way and have lost 26 pounds. No nausea, I am exercising and feeling pretty good. The weight loss has definitely slowed down, at this stage, I find, you are dieting, but just don't have the hunger that you usually experience. Good luck with yours and once you get through the first 6 weeks, it's not too hard.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
