Hello everyone! :)

I'm 2 and a half weeks post-op and just joined here.

I have a question about going on dates! How can I explain to my date why I am eating so little? Is there anything I can do to seem normal diet-wise?

Thank you!

Went on a few dates right after surgery. I had explained the whole surgery to him so it wasn't a big deal.

You could also choose no food related dates!

Do you have any suggestions for non food related dates? I really have no clue

Thank you :)

How about Movies, a museum, Paint Nite, Comedy show, etc.

Congrats on your surgery! I haven't gone on any dates yet to have any advice but wanted to say welcome to the losing side!

@@Daveo Thank you! :)

I've not really had much support before/after the op, i've had so many questions and feel like I don't want to bug my dietician everyday! There aren't many support groups in my local area that seem to be legit? (London) So I hoped that this would be helpful and maybe share some of my experiences.

Your weight loss is amazing! You look great and I wish you well :)

@@BritishBornBabe this forum is a great resource for just about anything you have questions about. I have come across other forums but I find this one more informative and the members seem to be more active. With my schedule I can't get to any support groups so I rely on this site a lot. I'm so jealous that you are in London! One of my future vacation destinations once I get to goal.

@Daveo

Yes, this site seemed different to others i've looked at. I feel the same way about America! I'm planning to visit New York next christmas, cannot wait to have my Home Alone 2 moment :D

Museum, painting or pottery place, a walk in a park, a concert, ice skating, hiking, an amusement park...

I dated heavily with my lap band 8 years ago. I am married now. The following is so true: if the date is going great nobody pays attention to what anyone is eating. I would not mention a thing. Order something small with Protein and pick. Honestly before bariatric surgery I was distracted on dates and never ate much anyway. If you date someone for any leg nth of time you can decide.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
