Frodo's Mom 23 Posted October 23, 2015 I'm 2 days post op , and watching my family eat dinner; I'm not hungry at all. But I feel like I should be eating- it's the weirdest feeling not to be hungry!
thisfathasgot2go 235 Posted October 23, 2015 Only a couple of weeks and you can take a bite of what they are eating (as long as it is soft and pretty healthy!)
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted October 23, 2015 I'm 2 days post op , and watching my family eat dinner; I'm not hungry at all. But I feel like I should be eating- it's the weirdest feeling not to be hungry! I know. That is one of the hardest things to understand when we are pre-op, that there are times when we won't want to eat, especially the junk.

OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted October 23, 2015 @Frodo Not being hungry is something no one could have ever explained to me before surgery and I would have understood. It is something you have to live. I am 3 months I am never hungry, and unless I set alarms and reminders I forget to eat. I am behind on eating to day. It is a glorious freedom I never thought I would experience. They say it doesn't last so I am enjoying it while it does.
Dub 9,922 Posted October 23, 2015 That is a wild phenomenon you are experiencing. It kinda freaks me out at times. i do still experience hunger.....10 days after being sleeved.....but it's usually in the mornings when I've not had a Protein shake for 12+ hours. As long as I have a shake every 6 hours, there is no hunger.

It's really strange and embarrassing in public, don't know if I'm the only person..
Frodo's Mom 23 Posted October 24, 2015 I've had burping when I drink too much too fast. Still getting used to sip sip sip.
BritishBornBabe 5 Posted October 24, 2015 @ I also find that being the case, I am really finding it difficult to chew slowly. I guess practice makes perfect!

It's really strange and embarrassing in public, don't know if I'm the only person.. I burped a little in the hospital, but it felt great as it was a gas relief. I have done so a few times since being home. Surgery date was 10/13 for me. I haven't eaten anything other than Protein shakes since surgery. No real burping after them. Here's the funny part. In the months leading up to surgery I was having quite a bit of audible gastric gurgling. Could be heard across the room, even. At the time I had a very large umbilical hernia that had worsened. It was repaired at the same time as my sleeve and everything has become so much more quiet.
ttdish 315 Posted October 25, 2015 When I talk to people about my surgery, I find myself constantly saying things like "it's so bizarre," or "I can't really explain it," when it comes to questions about hunger. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I rarely experience hunger like I used to. I sometimes feel "empty," and I know I should eat, but I don't feel much desire to eat. It's such a welcome change from constantly thinking about food. I never thought I'd be someone who could actually eat primarily for fuel, and not for pleasure. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
Stephielynn8 64 Posted October 28, 2015 I am so glad that I searched for this topic, because it is just within a few days that I actually started to get hungry. Today is my 2 week "sleeviversary". This morning I got blood drawn and I had fasted and I was hungry going there. Couldn't wait to get to work to have some food. I guess I am on target as far as the healing process goes; but I realize of course all is different.
