I tried it but it bothered my incision.

Yes! I requested it just as I did with my c-sections!

I tried requesting one...but they said it will rub against your incisions, plus it's not necessary for gastric sleeves, only for tummy tucks or breast augmentations.

I was told on my Day6 appointment to wear one.

The reason had more to do with swelling around an umbilical hernia repair than anything else.

I have one and wore it some prior to surgery to sort of hold the hernia into place.

I have not followed my surgeon's instruction due do how the binder used to aggravate a healing disc issue at T-12.

The post-op swelling in that region was forecasted by the surgeon and is lessing small amounts every day. Today is Day 10.

The girdle I have is a 4 panel stretchable type with a full width section of Velcro. I bought it from Amazon after not finding what I needed in local pharmacies. Granted, I needed a damn big one at that time.

Best of luck to you.

I had one and wore it over my shirt for the first week and a half after getting sleeved. It helped me so much because the incision where they removed the stomach felt like it was pulling really bad and it gave so much support if I coughed, sneezed, or laughed.

Nope. I held a pillow on my tummy on the drive home, and didn't even use that once I got home. Never had any issues.

Yup! That thing was my life saver. If it's on right it feels so good!

I wore one with the last 2 of my 3 c sections. Will definitely be requesting one for this surgery, though I still have one from my last c-section. I am a huge believer they aided in my recovery. I also feel I firmed up quicker.

I was given a binder to wear immediately after my surgery.. It felt wonderful to have that extra support after the trauma to the abdomen.. Made coughing a lot less uncomfortable too. I wore the binder for about a week post surgery. Life saver!!

Yes I have, and I actually have it on. I wear a tank top first and then put on my binder. The the top I want to wear over the binder. When I am home, I just wear it over my shirt. I still want to look "smooth" and I like the support. To me it helps as I was told not to wear Spanx or something like that yet because of my incisions. I am not sure if it will help down the road, but I feel like it does help me at this point. (I had my VGS surgery on 10/14/2015)

Not sure if this helps you, but good luck! ????

How would a 6' tall shar pei look in one of these?? My wife tells me I look deflated.. Wonder could I cram some of this extra skin in one for purely cosmetic benefit?? Sorry, had to ask..

Awwww I highly doubt that you look like Shar Pei, but I completely understand. It definitely would NOT hurt if you had one. Since you have extra skin, the extra support that a binder provides can be helpful. Maybe get with your doctor and see if they can provide one for you or just go to a DME store and see if you can buy one outright.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
