That is too dry for where you are in the process - only 17 days out, correct? Does your NUT allow you to have more than pureed? Even if so, that is too tough for you to eat right now. At day 15 my dr said I could have "soft" foods which she said was anything you could easily mash with your tongue which any kind of ham or turkey is not the case. If you must eat meat of some kind, then maybe try shaved turkey and very very tiny bites and chew very well.

Every NUT is different. My program allowed "soft foods" 2 weeks after I was discharged from the hospital which included (and recommended) deli meat.< /p>

After three weeks, my nut allowed soft foods and deli meat and cheese qualified. I ate them plain and didn't roll them up. I tore off very small bites and chewed really well. I tolerated these just fine and still eat them. It helps a lot if you're hydrated for it not to feel dry. I sometimes take a tiny sip of Water as needed if food gets stuck. My nut said that's ok.

And one of my favorites is thinly sliced ham and a babybel light mini cheese. Pretty fantastic!

It depends on the fat content. My NUT's rule was that it had to be 3g of fat or less per 1oz serving.

Hahahaha! Yes, the first time I ate my "soft" foods, it felt a bit like a brick in my chest. I learned that I needed smaller bites and even more chewing than I thought. I've tried mustard, a bit of mayo, plain greek yogurt, and other sauces, but I tend to prefer my ham and cheese plain. FYI I'm 5 weeks post bypass.

Oh yeah, sorry, forgot to say the deli cheese I eat is low fat! My nut tells me to keep everything under 5g fat per serving.

I hadn't even thought of doing this, I am 5 weeks PO. Had a thin slice of ham and slice of low fat cheese rolled up. Went down great and that hunger I was feeling tonight is now gone. Plus bonus of added Protein. Thank you.

The first bite of real food i put in my mouth post op was mashed potatoes and it felt so weird I spit it out! Makes me laugh now but that was only about 10 days ago and I still freak out chewing some foods. Have to do baby bites.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
