I have the band. 6 years out. I've had several problems and finally gave up. I am considering the sleeve but afraid it might not work either.

What made you choose to do the sleeve? Was the surgery comparable to band surgery? Are you glad you did it?

I would also like to know about long term results.

I got the band in 2005 and had major problems resulting in 2 hospital stays. The same surgeon removed the band in 2014 and I waited a year so scar tissue could heal. I got the sleeve in July 2015 and so far so good. I am half way to my goal.

Good luck. I am getting the gastric sleeve surgery in march. I heard that the band had a high failure rate and the sleeve is good because it doesn't redirect to your intestines so you should have better absorption though you still need to have Vitamins. Why did the band fail for you? did you lose any weight on it?
