Cool!

How is everyone doing on their pre-surgery diets? I'm often nauseous and my tummy is not happy in general, but it's getting a bit easier. Plus, I'm losing weight every day.

Starting the pre-op diet on Dec 2. Trying different Protein Shakes to see what won't make me ill. So far they all are gross. Any suggestions?

I'm on day two of my pre-op diet. Two shakes with lean Protein and green veggies. I'm so hungry. I know it's in my head but I feel terrible. I'm trying so hard to distract myself throughout the day to keep my mind off food but it's like...when you can't have it, it's all you think about.

I'm having a lot of feelings about the surgery and the pre-op diet. I can't see my therapist until after surgery so I'm kinda hung out on a limb.

I'm terrified of the unknown land known as "Post-Op". I'm not scared of going under the knife. (Except my liver shrink not working) I'm scared of living as a RNY patient. What will I eat? Will it hurt? Will I ever be myself again or will I change?

See. Feelings.

EDIT: My insurance might not even come through! Scared of that too.

I like the taste of the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shakes made with almond milk (I can't have regular milk). I like to add PB2 to chocolate or vanilla.

The designer whey Protein is second in taste in my thought.

I made myself Soup with chicken broth, mushroom broth and lots of fresh and frozen veggies and herbs to eat slowly when I want something savory (ok'd by my Nutritionist).

Just keep believing, Buttercup!

@@NYLux12, i'm finishing day two of the liver-shrinking diet and it's going well! I was able to use carnation instant breakfast packets (no sugar added) with 8oz of skim milk. I drink five a day. I put them in the blender, add ice, and add flavoring (sugar free) to the french vanilla flavor and it is sooooo yummy. I don't feel deprived. I can also have 250 calories a day of selected fruits and veggies, so i'm not feeling hungry, and so far so good. Only eight more days and then SURGERY!

@ButtercupBubbles--it is scary to think of the unknown. I agree. But i've read about 4-5 books, spent dozens of hours online watching you tube video testimonials and reading bariatric pal, and talking with about 10 people who have had a WLS, and almost all of them said it was the best thing they ever did, many say they only wish they had done it sooner. Very, very few regret it...hardly any, actually, even those who had complications. Don't talk yourself out of it! You're going to feel SO much better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
