Latin/Chinese/Syrian recipes

Recommended Posts

I'm on soft foods and although I can't have it yet, I'd love a Mediterranean plate... A piece of chicken kabob, some hummus and a 1/4 cup of tabouli would be awesome right now. I'm so boring right now... turkey chili, refried Beans and tuna are my staples. Being able to make healthy (flavorful) choices is really the key to keeping this lifelong commitment... so I can't wait until I can introduce more foods.

I eat a lot of tuna. I like it plain, with a little bit of mayo, with some flavored aioli (I have some from Stonewall Kitchen that I like), with salad dressing, etc. you can also get some of the flavored tuna packets (like ranch, etc).

I found that post-op, if I do mix in a fat, I need much less than I used pre-op.

I eat lots of hummus.

Chinese I like tofu w/ veg or miso Soup.

Puerto Rican I get manduras or tostones & rice & Beans if I can get my friends mom to make it withou pork or lard

My fav is Indian. I usually get molov kofta (so?)

Indian Chinese or Thai are always easy since I can get something either with Beans or with tofu.

I'm actually planning to make a miso Soup tomorrow. I'll add some unflavored Protein powder to the miso broth then add some bay Bok Choy & fresh ginger. I'll either dice doe tofu it add a bit of TVP. Other than the Bok Choy the soup is perfect for any stage. If you eat meat you could swap out the tofu for meat of choice

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
