Mcgann320 26 Posted October 23, 2015 Who has had gallbladder problems after the sleeve or symptoms? I am experiencing symptoms and have been told it's due to rapid weight loss. Am calling my dr tomorrow to see. Anyone else? I'm 4 months out of surgery and have lost 105 lbs.
Lexigurl82 160 Posted October 23, 2015 I haven't had VSG yet but I did do some research regarding the gallbladder. What I read is that most surgeons prescribe a medication called actigall which helps prevent gallbladder stones/issues after VSG. It seems that a lot of people end up needing the gallbladder removed after VSG. I am going to ask my surgeon the next time I see him if he will prescribe me something to prevent gallbladder attacks/gallstones after surgery. Good luck to you! pixieredhead 79 Posted October 23, 2015 I actuality was going to post about this as well. I found out today that i need to get my gallbladder out. I have had no symptoms of having problems but my recent blood work showed that my liver levels were high. So i had to get an ultrasound on the right side of my stomach. ..turns out my gallbladder is full of stones. I know it's not uncommon after wls. I'm just accepting it needs to be done but of course I'm a little worried, mostly cause my heart rate has been low ever since my surgery. Does anyone have advice or what to expect. Thanks and i wish you the best with your surgery as well.
butterfly23 423 Posted October 23, 2015 @@Mcgann320 I just had my gallbladder out last week - I am 6 months post-op and 125 down from my highest. I have never ever had GB issues before, the surgeon said it was because of my rapid weight lost. My recommendation is to not wait - I tried to put it off and ended up in hospital with no choice but to have it removed. Best of luck to you, I honestly didn't realize this was a possibility until it happened to me.
Gabby F. 4 Posted November 2, 2015 I just had mine removed last week just a month and a half after the sleeve. It was very painful and I feel it was a big setback for me . I'm just glad it's over and I want to recover . ????

TurboToo 12 Posted November 3, 2015 Yes, rapid weight loss can lead to gall bladder issues. My doctor put me on Actigal for 6 months. I am 7 weeks post op and so far so good. But time will tell. Wishing you the best.
