Yesterday I joined the sleeved crowd. I am still in hospital, not feeling fantastic but I've felt worse. Waking up in recovery yesterday all i could think was "what had done!" As the pain is slightly better I'm no longer thinking that. I've only been able to drink Water everything else makes my tummy hurt. And I'm starting to have some gas pains but overall everything is good

Hang in there. The first few days can be rough. The first few weeks drag on forever. But you will definitely see improvement day by day and you'll adapt. Sip, sip, sip. Walk, walk, walk. And get your Protein in. And stick to the plan!

I don't know anyone who enjoyed the recovery. Depending on your procedure you just got stabbed in the stomach multiple times. It will get better soon...congratulations!

That's great news.

The healing can go pretty fast.

Like everyone said, you'll feel better if you can get your Water & Protein shakes in. The nutrition plan you were given is not a suggestion. It's the roadmap to your success. Follow it to your rapidly improving health.

Recovery wasn't that bad for me. I couldn't seem to wake up from the drugs but other than that I was not in an intense amount of pain. That may have been due to that nifty little button they gave me lol. Otherwise this is by far one of the best decision's I've made for myself and my life in a very long time. The first week or so was slow going but by week three I felt great... I'm at week five today and still feeling good... Had a minor set back but no complaints. Just know you're in for a big learning period and in for making a lot of adjustments to be successful.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
